Tankers say the reason why they run the god fit is because it's the only god fit there is right? and everything else is just peasant trash right? There in lies the problem! This game is built upon the foundation that everything is or atleast should be viable right? There is no wasted SP right?
So why is only the one viable fit Godlike? Same is true with most ADS fits as well. The difference is that all ADS fits are still ******* trash right? Just the one fit makes you a bit less trashy than the rest, but for tanks it seems like it is, all other tank fits are trash, Why waste my isk on a fit that I know pales in comparison to my Adonis fit. Remember back in the day when vehicle modules and turrets and vehicle variants were abundant? I don't know about you, but back there used to be experimental fits, none were terrible, some where better than others in certain situations than others and vice versa. Now there is one fit, and that one fit is God.
Still don't know how to fix any of this though, all I can say is make other tank fits more viable(Experimentation!), while making none of them Godlike. Or Nerf everything to hell, and I mean everything. Hide yo kids hide yo wife cause the nerf hammer just might kill them. I'm talking nerfing AV, I'm talking nerfing tanks, I'm talking Nerfing Dropsuits, I'm talking about Nerfing Dropships. and when you're done, buff the ADS. Right now its barely even a mosquito annoying the enemy. They swat us away in one hit they kill.

I know way back in beta I experimented with a bricked out Surya, no rep only plates and with a railgun no less  . It was sluggish but back then it served me well to a certain extent. I would jump out with my logi reps if I needed to recover.
I like to experiment with fits even if they are suboptimal. The thing I love about CCP`s games is - yea you have FOTM of course but there is usually always a multitude of creative fits that might serve one specific purpose much better than the 'meta'.
Point is - Creativity and experimentation in fittings and loadouts is what makes this game great imho.
