Has there been any word on this? I remember CCP talking about this at their fanfest multiple times, and I think it would be much easier to look at, and plan ahead than the current way skills are portrayed. |

That was demonstrative for visual purposes only, not intended to be what the skill system looks like. What we have now is the way it is. Sorry for the bad news mate. |

There have been suggestions of a skill-tree view being made |

It would be nice to have in game, but the current dust skill system is nearly identical to EVE, and what most of eve players were expecting. The Skillmap posters/graphics using the hex design sounds like a good thing for players to create on their own once dust is live and the NDA no longer applies. I'm sure plenty of corps would love to have this kinds of intel-graphics available in their own forums/channels to train up their newbs quick and right. Maybe even CCP or a Dust fansite will have a competition and give out some swag for these things. |

I don't think we even half a fraction of all the final skills yet. If you compare an Eve ship to a drop suit they are virtually identical and there is no hand holding in Eve for skill development. A hex chart or skill tree would make it a little too easy to plan. Make some mistakes, and then figure out how the skilling works and what to expect as far as future skills.
Even ask someone you know who plays eve how the skilling works, because the "tree" will likely be very similar. There is also a certificate system in Eve which doesn't tell you how to skill, but shows you what path the skills you have acquired have put you on. |

Besides I think skills in EVE / DUST are multidimentional since several skills are needed to 1 equipment, being each skill needed to a diverse number of equipments, wich is fairly dificult to visualize in a tree form.
Unless for each equipment is generated a tree, wich, to be fair, already exists if you go look at the equipment's required skills.
So, humm, already in? hehe |
