I am not very techy so I have a question for those that are. What is the best way to reduce LAG? I have decent internet and even hardwired my system instead if using WIFI. I uninstall the game and saved files occasionally as well. I just keep getting my ass handed to me lately because of lag issues. Can some one lend a hand? |

Are you talking about network latency or low frames per second? Edit: I.e rubber-banding or slide show? |

Some times it's soooooo bad my character barely even renders into the screen and I see enemies coming but can't move to shoot them LOL |

I'm probably the last person who should comment on this kind of thread, as I have never experienced frame rate problems personally. Rubber banding, Yes. low FPS, No.
With that said, there are a few things that can be done (which have been stated in other threads):
In game: - Reduce chat channels - Reduce contact list - Remove e-mails (no longer applicable since the game will wipe all mails over 30 days) - Reduce number of Loadouts - Cleanup your inventory (sell of all the junk you never use, or trade it)
PS3 generic: - Keep good ventilation around your PS3 - Defrag your HDD - Uninstall / Reinstall Dust. - Make sure you have not filled your HDD, or have very little space left.
These are just a few points which I believe helps (note: not fix) the problems.
Personally I tend to keep my merc quarters very tidy. I sold off assets for 20 mil to the vendor at one point, and with Warlords and the warbarge your inventory will increase more rapidly than before. I only have a few chat channels on at any time, and clean my e-mail almost daily (delete all is a lovely feature). I also installed a Seagate Momentus XT 750Gb hybrid drive with 8Gb of SSD. The drive is also 7500rpm.
As stated, I never get FPS issues. Even in the supposedly dreaded Gallente "lag" facility.
Hope that helps |

Cool thanks. Was thinking of getting an SSD but wasn't sure if it was worth it. I will take your advice and sell all load outs not being used and reduce my suit selection as well. I just hate getting stomped due to not being able to turn and shoot someone's face off LOL |

How much did the drive cost? I found a 480GB SSD for about 150 bucks |

I don't think a SSD is worth the cost for a PS3. Try a SSHD or HDD, they're like $70 bucks. I'll probably buy one since I wanna keep my PS3 to play the classics, and lots of JRPG's that I haven't touched. I uninstalled a few games as well, some which I already sold. Current space available is 45/250 GB, so yeah I need to upgrade soon. |

Toss your PS3 off a bridge into the middle of a freeway into the oncoming traffic of a whole fleet of 18wheelers.

Honestly I would go for a hybrid drive since it gives the best performance for your buck. The PS3 only have a SATA-1 interface, so it's no use to go overboard with SATA-III (even if they are compatible)
Just make sure it has at least 8GB of SSD.
As stated before, I have the Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB which is quite old right now, but it works like a sharm. http://www.seagate.com/staticfiles/docs/pdf/datasheet/disc/momentus-xt-retail-ds1746-1-1011-us.pdf You can probably pick up a used one for almost nothing. |

So is that an external drive or is does it go where you would be replacing the PS3 drive? I guess I can youtube it. |

It's a internal 2.5" drive which replaces the current drive. |

upgrading to fibre optic in a few weeks, if it doesn't make any difference I can denounce DUST as being a very, very poor product.
It will bring me satisfaction to do that but at the same time I hope that a decent internet connection will sort this game out. |
