If you play the game a lot totally worth it. The veteran poack has the most bang for your buck. Boosters, Aurum and BPOs of suits and weapons. |

Yes, you can still buy them. I bought one not so long ago so I am sure. Once in game open the marketplace > get aurum > buy pack there

I would start out with the mercenary pack, start by searching the PSN store if they are still available there you will still receive the items if you don't you can send in a ticket to be reimbursed so no need to worry about your money
the mercenary pack costs only 20$ USD its the best value if you don't want to spend much you get a gal scout BPO named the dragonfly scout that doesn't require any skills to use as well as a toxin smg (also a bpo) both great items, you also get some aur and other items
the best value is the elite pack as it comes with various BPO's
I wont go into detail instead ill give you a handy link to decide what to buy http://dust514.com/news/2013/05/merc-vet-elite-packs/
I do suggest you get them all if you can as each has great value and unique items, all of which are very useful for staring out and even useful for vets to save isk and in general to have worry free fun
keep in mind that you do get sp boosters, as a new player I suggest for you to save those for later use the passive ones right away as you wont get any more out of it for playing well but the active boosters reward you more depending on how well you play mainly trough how many wp you can earn per match so use them later when you are more confident about your skills as a player and can earn a decent amount of WP per match and play for as long as the booster is active some are only one day boosters some are longer so to get the most out of them keep that in mind
click here if you are making a new account and want some free BPO's

And another tip... if you have alts then get these packs at PS store when the game is not running. You can then assign the items individually to different characters when you start the game.

Provided you're not an alt, that's very smart foresight. You might fit in well here.
