It might be noobish that I don't know this, but I can't find the info anywhere.
Using Caldari as the example, dropsuit tiers are named:
C-1
C/1 - Series
Ck.0
Can anyone answer what the naming convention here means?
And secondly, would it make more sense for new players if dropsuits were simply named:
C-1
C-2
C-3

Well... the tiers are "-" "/" and "."
The letters tell the race....
and the numbers? Just a bunch of garbage really.
Doesn't make any sense no matter how I look at it.

In earlier times the trailing number would indicate the variant. So a ck.1 would be a different variant of the caldari proto suit that had slightly different stats - in the case of the caldari assault suits I think the variant had a second equipment slot but worse base stats, but I'm not sure anymore. Variants stopped existing sometime during open beta, if I remember correctly. So the naming convention is indeed out-dated and could use an update. |

If you spend enough time you will discover that C stands for Caldari. What a twist!
While Ck should be just C but CCP made a mistake and we know how these guy code. Once it's done, never touch it again.
We had an example of this not so long ago. They touched it! And server crushed for a day.

I like Mortishai's perspective the best. Why do you name your character the name it has? It's not a noob question to ask, but why ask Lincoln what their Mark VI and Jag's XJS models really (REALLY) refer to,GǪ and should we the consumers suggest they change their nomenclature. Just buy the car, right?
I still don't know what "Carapace" is. I couldn't find it in the New Feed or the Lore for EVE.
GǪBut I cried just the same when the devs removed the name from Dust gear.
So hey, don't question these things to loudlyGǪ. You might just make them disappear. Hehe.

It's honestly pretty easy to tell which one is the better suit but if you can't you can always rename it so it really just doesn't matter.
