This thing needs a real buff. The only thing that keeps it away from the proto varient is cool down and seize time. At least buff its ammo like most of the other sidearms. Double it. Give it 32 rounds and I'll be fine.

Thing is fine.
Used to run it on Gal Assaults with 3x Sidearm damage mods. Charge shot for days. Spam hipfire with your bonus. It wrecks shields suits.

The problems with doing this with the ion pistol is:
A) The hipfire spread is massive B) It randomly overheats during this hipfiring C) There are other sidearms that do better DPS on automatic at longer ranges
It's simply not that effective to spam hipfire. The charge shot -can- be genuinely useful at times but it's still suboptimal general use.

A.) Use Gal Assault w/ sharpshooter III B.) Be light on the trigger finger. Holding a tad bit too long will overheat when spamming C.) Not gonna lie, that's true.
A and B are totally doable. I used to run Ion Pistol on sniper scouts due to its high burst DPS in CQC.
Scout coming up to my perch? Not for long.

Don't get me wrong o know how to use it and I know it's power, except it doesn't feel like and officer varient. Tell me. Why would you pay idk like 100k to buy it and the only thing that separates it from the 45k proto varient is 1 second difference of seize time and a faster cool down.
Like, at least more ammo or damage plz.

Galassault bonus is unnoticeable and I'm not convinced it's even functional.
With videos of a Galassault firing overlaid over videos of a non-Galassault firing, I still haven't been able to identify a difference.

It's fiddly. It's certainly true that that helps, but lag (a common occurrence in DUST, of course) can ruin you.

High burst DPS?
... What?
You have the charge shot. The charge shot provides an alpha burst but requires you to spend a moment charging it and a moment cooling down. The total timespan of this is ~2 seconds, to deliver 350 damage.
Alternatively, you could use a bolt pistol and deliver two shots in the time it takes to charge your first shot you have dealt significantly more damage, with greater aim assistance, with more accuracy, with greater range, and if you headshot a chance of what is effectively an instakill.
In the time it takes for the ion pistol to cool down afterwards, you can empty the bolt pistol clip.
The ion pistol is not nearly as good.

I used to duel wield it before it received a buff and guess what it was fine back then too perhaps not perfect but it certainly didn't under perform as much as people made it out to be, and due to the lack of people that used it almost no one knew how to counter it so all I had to do was get close to them and i could burst them down (shotgun range) the hip fire spread doesn't really matter if you're up in their face and the thing doesn't overheat until the last few bullets unless you're holding down the fire button too long
if they are so far away that you cant kill them with hip fire then AIM! seriously there is no spread at the ranges you use it if you simply just aim down sights not to mention that if you use AA that just as the bolt pistol and any other weapon with AA bullets still hip just as long as you're generally aiming in their direction
the seize prevents spamming of charged shots which is good because a well placed head shot can take down a lot of suits not just scouts, and it can bring down a heavy in about 2-3 shots shields or armor (head shots)
the one major thing that should be noted is that kubo has done very well with a lot of orthodox weapons, if someone out there is doing well with these then certainly it isn't under performing at least not as much as people that hardly even use it make it out to be
so please instead of giving your 2 cent input after only using it for lets say a week or heck maybe even a month, how about instead you use it for a while till you get good with it then you can formulate a consensus as to why it should really receive a buff or not
I've used it just as much as I have any other weapon, I've tested everything I can get my hands on, I've done well with all but the breach flay lock (still got about 8 kills with it and no deaths but that was my best score with it) some weapons do need small buffs but most are just fine as they are

What the op is trying to say, is the officer variant is a bit bland, compared to other officer sidearms.
Comparing the proto version with the officer version you can see all the stats are almost identical... What is supposed to make this weapon stand out compared to other sidearms. Does the Shortened cooldown make this weapon much more effective?
What do you think?
Personally I think like the officer laser, heat per second(buildup) should be reduced , allowing two full charged shots to be expelled before overheat..
but then in saying all this, this was kubos choice to begin with, so maybe we can't mess with it.
