i've played off and on for a while now.
i liked dust at first then changes where made and it got frustrating and i left .
came back and it was better after another update it started to suck again rinse repeat .
never joined a corp never really got involved with other players, mind you i never wolfed it , i PTO, i work with the flow of battle.
logi trying to heal, i heavy and try and back him up. i see a enemy AV i try and take him before my teams tanker gets close .
anyway to the point .
how and the frackity frack do i participate in taking back a flooded objective, i mean like the whole enemy team packed into a four by four square in an area i cant get a tank.
i tried my GK.0 with a ton of armor and a heavy machinegun but i get melted pretty fast .
i tried tossing nades but i can never get a angle on the objective.
also its quite hard not that i have been off and on to remember whats good and whats not . i remember flaylocks being really really good . and then they got punted a few times.
i remember multiple variations of heavy turrets, which seem to be gone now. and i remember rail rifles being OP
which that last part still seems to be true
is there even a place a returning dusty can get a comprehensive list of whats going on.
not a update page and fixes. but like a thats a thing or still is a thing .
quite like it now btw . which is why i am asking, i can see myself playing a lot more . even copring up |

I'm assuming when you're asking about assaulting a stacked objective solo when you say 'flooded' objective. As in, there are heavies with logis and probably some assaults to boot and you're trying to break through.
I suspect what you're running into is a very close quarter objective with multiple heavies running Assault HMGs with logis backing them up. If you're the only heavy, storming that will be hard and if your logi doesn't have the max skills to back you, you were going to melt anyways.
I'm not sure how long your break was but if it was any decent amount of time you're going to have to get used to the new overheat. That's what is killing most heavies today. They don't pay attention to their overheat and they also try to engage way too far outside their optimal range.
Stick to close quarters and smart spray tactics. You're going to have to do away with stomping forward like a stationary turret and rounding cover just like an assault. Try to lure a cocky heavy with his logi around. His body will block the hallway so you'll only have to outdo one heavy at a time. So it will come down to who is more accurate and who has the better logi backing them. Once that heavy is down, terminate and heal up + cool down your gun. Then poke your head out again.
Timing is key. You can't wait too long or the whole team will come once they realize you two are alone. But too soon and you won't have enough juice to make it through.
That being said, it's always going to be a gamble.
- It's possible that once that first heavy goes down, the second will come right after through that doorway instead of backing up.
- It's possible he has 3 rep tools on and you only have 1, so he can just simply outlast you.
- I also don't know if you have a mic and since you haven't joined a corp, my guess is you don't regularly squad up either. So if you're not in great communication with your logi, it's possible they won't be able to help you fully. Like tell you when an assault/scout is flanking/above or if they know you need to back up because the best rep tool in this game will never match the dps you'll receive.
Rail Rifles still deliver mega punch at a far distance. Scrambler Rifles will strip your shields before you can blink and still do good damage to your armor in the same clip. Flaylocks are ok now, but Bolt Pistols are freaking devastating. If you're a heavy, I highly recommend it as a sidearm. It does huge damage over a fairly good distance. Take some getting used to tho.
But in general, hope you have fun coming back and playing. If I ever see you in game, I'll be happy to logi you if you'll be my meat shield =^_^=

yes yes and yes . tried scrambler rifle yesterday and was shocked by how effective it is. as well as bolt pistols . the overheat is taking some getting used to . however despite all the rough stuff . i'm still having fun.
i like the newer map and quick match mode as well . i think they should up movement speed across the board though

It's cheap and cowardly...but res. Run it with remotes, min scouts (apex tiger) with complex reactive instead of a code breaker can slip into "most" locked points.. |

I took a 2 year break, just came back, and I'm lucky if I finish in the green with a KDR. "Running with the flow" is a good start, but squadding up will be immensely helpful in taking objectives that are "flooded." I've been running solo the whole two days I've been back, and I'm getting my suit handed to me left and right. I know joining a squad would help, but my gun game is so rusty, I would hate to inflict this much pathetic-ness on a group of players who have been dusting for a while.
Try the squad. If you need to find one, post in local and you should be able to find someone. |

Anytime that I'm online, unless I'm in a corp battle (which I admit is a little rare because I always miss the windows >_<), you're more then welcome to squad up with me. I've got decent logi skills and gear as I focused on being as assault class first and foremost.
I would also suggest highly joining a corp, they can help with resources, advice or even fireteam/squad members (or offers)! That being said; I've only really been in one player corp, but Dust University might be a good bet for you, or you can join the corporation that I'm in (the only player corp I've joined). I find the corp is helpful and aims to have fun. |
