in the video. some of you had been complaining earlier that it was probably going to be the new militia swarm launcher. I know we haven't actually been able to use it yet, and we really were only shown a small glimpse of what it could do. But would you guys think it would be Op still if worked like this?
The explosives it fires would only detonate if they hit a dynamic object. As in, they would only explode if they hit a player, vehicle, or installation. if it doesn't hit anything like that, then the explosives go inert and despawn a few seconds later so it doesn't take up too much processing power.
Does that seem like a balanced weapon to all of you?
Or they could maybe adopt the way the sticky launcher works in TF2.

Sha Kharn's got the point. To elaborate : The swarm launcher is a problem mostly because its ATM form is an AV weapon that obliterates personnel in CQC without harming the user. Merely having a single-exposive mechanic with the massdriver will make it a non-issue, the "rocket shotgun" effect makes it very difficult to dodge the swarm ATM. |

actually, the swarm launcher has a few things OP about it. One, as you said is just the CQC non-risk, another thing is the range and damage of the splash. if a rocket lands 10 feet away from you you're still dead in one shot most of the time. I've even heard of it killing through walls because of the splash damage. that's ridiculous. then there's the range. Currently you can shoot it form a good distance and still kill people with it. Distances that would make even an assault rifle choke up.
as far as the mass driver goes, if they make it just a grenade launcher, limit it's reload time, and rounds per magazine, it might be fine. but if it's the AA12 with grenade rounds, we're going to have a problem. and thats assuming they fix "collateral damage" |
