Woot woot, tooting your own horn is fun PC players for one. They're notoriously good as squeezing out efficiency. More importantly understanding the fittings of the competition is half the battle. How long they can be active on the field, playing those fits to understand their behaviour, etc.
Playing PC, I've come across some quite interesting fits from my opponents. There are a few routes you can go here but the main is that you want to maximize your efficiency between damage and defenses.
A few I've had success with:
Plated rails
Double plates, Rep, Hardener
Complex heatsink and damage mod, nitro
Strong vs AV, not so reliant on hardeners for mitigation, not the greatest anti rail tank fit but does amazing against most fits.
Focused DPS
Double reps, double hardened
2 Complex damage mods, one complex heatsink
A good, balanced rail fit that will beat out most other fits that don't stack damage. Alternatively you could throw on a plate over a rep.
Both of these are my go to tanks. Now for a few unconventional fits I've come across that were actually incredibly effective:
Get Hard
3 hardeners, one large plate
Heatsink, damage mod, nitro
You can look at this and go wtf. Come across one in PC and you really go WTF. Last hope pulled these out when they REALLY needed a tank gone. Hitting one of these with a damage modded rail quite literally does almost nothing. First time I started pounding on one of these fits, I quickly realized there was no killing it with those hardeners online.
While it doesn't have any way to rep back lost HP, a single railgunner WON'T be able to drop it in a single heatsink volley nor with subsequent shots. That said, these are still situational and time is limited on the field, dependent on the hardener timers and limited HP.
They will add quite a bit of shock to any other tanks you come across and will no doubt win most any single engagement and do well in multiple engagement situations.
Glassed cannon
Gunnlogi
3 complex damage mods, 1 complex heatsink, nitro
Complex heavy plate, enhanced heavy plate
Gunnlogis are just god awful, don't get me wrong. But with this fit, and all mods online, most tanks will go down in 2 shots. Start pounding them before they activate hardeners and you will kill them every time. Hardeners take like 2 seconds to come online so this can get in between their window.
Even with hardeners up, this thing does some insane damage, and can take a few rail shots itself. Being that they are much more agile than the armor tanks, often times you can avoid or break engagements fairly easy. Still, gunnlogis suck, don't forget that.
Note: all my optimization skills are maxed minus one point in damage mods and 2 points in blasters. I tend to find my fits are short on CPU but leave plenty of room for PG, so small blasters are the way to go but the CPU gains are marginal. |
