So I started tanking and want to head my skillpoints to gallente tanks with blaster to provide anti-infanery support on the battlefield.
Where should I start spending my SP ? Dropsuit armor upgrades or cores ?
Also , is there a chat channel for me to roll with some experienced tankers ?
Thanks in advance

If my advice counts for anything then I suggest you start with the basics. Your core skills.
Two of the most important skills for you will be those that affect active module duration and active module cool down. These will make your defensive cool downs more 'available' to you throughout the deployment of your HAV.
Additional skills of up most importance are your Module Fitting Requirement Skills and your Turret Fitting Requirement Skills. These will allow you to dramatically increase the meta level of the modules you fit on your tank. Especially those of light turrets. I don't even look at SHAV because they are a bloody waste of time and resources.
You could probably make a pretty competitive HAV (by my standards) with about 10 Million SP.

I am NOT an HAV driver myself (but I do stay at a Holiday Inn when I'm turret-gunning), though I always enjoy seeing good HAV operators do their stuff.
I still recall some players who were cool enough (I'm talking, ROCKING COOL), to get together with their HAVs and form offensive convoys. They'd circle around the map along the main road, stay close enough behind each other that no AVer could effectively penetrate the group and ambush any single HAVGǪ and naturally they dominated each battle. Outstanding!
But I don't see ANY players that resourceful anymore. Have they all gone away?
I think there used to be a Chat Channel: Tanks R Us, or something to that effect. Daaaa, you might want to try typing that in the join/create box and see what happens.
Keep fingers crossedGǪ. Unfortunately many of these channels were created by social and co-op minded vets who have moved on, abandoned the channel, and were far too advanced for today's "neo" mercs to think and network like they used to.

Thanks in advance Hey Beast you want to start with heath that is the most important thing get you armor reps to 5 as soon as you can. Before you go straight to an Ion Cannon get your optimization up to at least 3 on your armor fitting this way you can fit more heath! There is 2 skills that are important for your armor hardeners one is 5% per level active duration one is 5% faster regeneration you want both of these to at least level 3. That way A/V will not insta-kill you then you can start on blasters.
There is much more on your path but that will get you headed in the right direction hope that helps

Simple yet really effective fit-
Adv maddie Basic blaster 2 basic hardeners 2 basic heavy reps 1 basic fuel injector 1 basic scanner 1 damage mod, heatsink or dispersion of choice.
You can also swap a rep for a 120plate for more armor.
Something your gonna want to do is learn to loose tanks of you have fear of loosing lots of isk. It took me some time to do so after tanks were changed. It really affected my performance. You might not hav that problem.

No, skip those core skills till later on down the road. Optimization is important, yes, but at the end of the line in the skill tree. Same with cooldown and uptime, important, but not absolutely essential to be effective. Get your main gun of choice up, heatsinks and damage mods, and armor skills first.

I think new guys should start with a fit a bit more forgiving and not so based around hardeners for defense.
High - DMG mod Scanner / DMG mod (or heatsink) Fuel injector
Lows - Heavy plate Heavy plate Rep Hardener
Blaster
Very effective and incredibly easy to use. |

This is a guide for Rail tanks rather than Blaster tanks, but there is a lot of stuff in there that applies to both. It also has a lot of player skill tips that no one else ever thinks to tell you.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

With early tanking, you are going to be fighting an uphill battle in tank versus tank fights, but even a basic blaster tank can teach you the fundamentals while you train up your skills.
Modules, fitting, and then specialize.
The only side track SP wise is dumping some SP into large blaster reload, it will be your biggest frustration with the blaster tank.
Personally, I would save turret skills to last if you are just trying to roll an anti infantry tank. Get a Neutron blaster, get reload 3, and focus on fitting from there.
In case no one has told you, do not drive the solo HAV models. Just take a three seater and put two std blasters in the smalls, you will have more fitting.
