This is why match rewards are important, and why friendly fire is your friend. Bluntly there needs to be a way for people to police this.

And it needs to be player-enforced policing.

A proto logi zaps you and recieves instant WP along with a repped heavy, a noob fit takes 5x that long after a few battles I was having to rest my trigger finger in between reps, combine that with every proto suit I met taking -100 dmg while dealing 800+ in an instant, then add in a proto squad running Gallogi and slaying our team back to the redline...

Even if they played like I was, being an absolute WP scrub, you get f*ck all, die every time there is not 2 people to assist you on a kill, and literally spend the game being a suicide slave while you watch scrubs have the fun...

You know this could be really stupid. I get people dont like "snipers" because they "do nothing", however, there are some good snipers out there who do their job and defend an objective more effectively than three guys.
Now, even if the sniper is doing nothing, by killing him you are just helping the enemy team. Too bad he is not helping, true, however, killing him is even worst.

Now, if he is an ass and he is killing teammates then he should be killed.

Therein lies the largest problem with DUST. It's the same people who desire to smash and clone and utterly dominate the reds with the desire to smash and clone the blues who dont play their way.

There is no barrier and no degree of separation between die hards and die oftens. The same who complain about the server population now will complain that the blueberries they TK no longer log in.
All respect to Thor for his taking a newberry under his wing but there are ridiculously few DUST players who are willing to do so and endless punishment for new people trying to find their way in a game being made for the sole purpose of ego.

My solution would be a dismal and barely rewarding form of PVE. Let those who would afk loot a battlefield or kill drones. We have to stop blaming our teammates for playing an increasingly hostile game.

Crazy idea: give people their payout regardless of when they leave, and they might stop afking

I AFK if I need to go to the fridge, or the gf needs me to do something. But I AFK in a free suit, so shoot away, terminate it, I don't care. RL comes before this game, always.

And why would they? In order for people to try, there has to be something to try for. You expect people to come out to brawl in a fight that is already over, which is stupid, and at least partially your own fault for insisting on jamming your 16 into FW all night. You can't win with 4 in pubs so you don't even bother, but you expect randoms to put up an effort against a stack.

The game hands everything to everyone, and the players encourage that action.

You want to stop AFKing? Remove passive SP for being alive in matches. The solution to the AFK problem has always been that simple. Well, aside from the repercussions of such a change of course.

Not that the downsides to such a change would matter to the no life q sync brigade. For a couple of weeks anyway.
