The more I play Acquisition the more I realize how much better of a game mode it is than Dom.
Dom is nearly impossible to balance due to inherent design flaws, and gives many players a poor impression of Matchmaking and Dust overall. Unfortunately, it's also the most popular mode by far.
I was skeptical of Acquisition at first, and stuck with Dom for my go-to pub game, but as I played Acq more I began to realize how much more fun it is. I think a lot of players must have been like me and chose to just stay with what they're comfortable with.
Which is why I propose a week long Acquisition event.
Have a list of objectives that must be completed in Acquisition over the course of a week. After grinding Acq for a week I think a lot of players would grow to like it more than Dom.

It certainly gives a much better chance for competition than dom. A lot of dom matches can be difficult to shift because the objectives are generally placed in easily defended areas, which makes sense, but the only hope to take it away from the enemy is to constantly rush, infiltrate, take over, and hope your team gets into position before the enemy respawns. Sometimes people just take it as a loss, stay back, and don't try to take it. Too easy to die, to easy to hold the objective.
Acquisition gives you a chance to capture the objective when it changes places and hunker down, potentially shifting the advantage whenever it moves. Plus a lot of the objectives are in semi-open spaces, meaning it's basically a domination match that flows and isn't a constant meat grinder. Acquisition feels like a much smoother game mode, to me. |

the problem with both of these game modes is that only having 1 point at a time allows active scanners to be used to gain a great advantage and however has scans up first will usually keep the lead
even with damped scouts and counter scans its hard to go up against a squad that has a scanner even a solo scanner can make it a pain
most blues don't seem to know how scans work or how to counter them, what I see happening is that players just stop trying to fight instead they just hide behind cover or go in blind
the only time I have seen scans fail to give one side the win is when the other side has better scans and an equal or better squad
having a single point also makes it easier for a full proto squad to bring in heavies and logis and just keep everyone off of the point
there is also the issue that the fastest player will give their team the advantage of getting the point locked down first
a lot of these things aren't bad on their own but put together it can be a nightmare it only takes one squad to do it all
1 min scout speed hack 1 gal logi scan 1 amarr heavy fully tanked 1 min logi reps
having to deal with this when your team doesn't have accesses to one or more of these roles especially speed hacks and scans can make it a one sided battle

I actually found myself despising Acquisition so much that I stopped playing it after the first week. I thought of it as a worse version of Dom. Sure, the point moves, but the motivation of my team once the point switched was so bad, it almost always ended up being me and a handful of blues trying to switch it...

Acquisition is hands down my favorite gamemode to play. To me it's like Domination, Skirmish, and Ambush all rolled into one. |

Give it another chance.
I can say hands down the competition is far better in Acquisition than Dom.

I noticed that whoever holds the objective the third time pretty much wins the match so a lot of people tend to hang back and focus on slaughtering people the first ten minutes of the game. I have always found that rushing to secure or fighting to hold the third objective to be when a lot of people actually try. |
