can't remember if you can shoot from a non-turret in a drop ship(haven't been in one for a while), but I know you can't when in second seat of a LAV. You really should be able to though, think about it, any other FPS with vehicles allows you to do this (BF3, Halo etc...) so why not Dust? maybe the devs are already working on it though, it seems like a kind of obvious addition don't you think? |

I agree. We would have a limited angle to shoot in the passenger seat but it should be there.

Yeah, the first time I grabbed the passenger seat in a LAV I was surprised that all I could do was look around. Now the dropship I've played around with had armored plates that dropped down in front of the non-gunner positions, so that at least makes sense, but an open LAV I don't see the reasoning why you shouldn't be able to shoot light weapons. A heavy with a forge gun might be a bit imbalanced, and how would they aim that massive thing while sitting, but an assault rifle should be ok. |

Agreed.
LAV Passenger should be able to shoot. As should the non gunner passengers on the dropship as i believe theres kinda open sides/viewports on the sides of the dropships.
Though yes restricted field of fire. |

aren't the LAVs right hand drives? I'm not sure I want my right handed passenger's assault rifle right next to my face as the driver. Now imagine a chaingun. NO GUNS IN THE CAR. |

I would actually like the opportunity to try out with all weapons allowed. I think having a collection of heavy weapons dudes on one side of your dropship unleashing all kinds of hell would be awesome. |

When im a passenger I just look left and stare at the driver. It makes them uncomfortable when you put your hand on their leg. All this would be avoided if we could actualy shoot instead. |

I would be fine with passenger shooting as long as HMGs, Forge Guns, Swarm launchers and Mass Drivers (that grenade launcher) can not be used. ARs, Scramblers, Shotties (lol), Snipers and SMGs all would be fine. |

+1 for allowing any non-heavy weapon to be used as a passenger.
OR
Let the backwash from the Swarms blast the other passengers out unwillingly :D |

This is something that I would like to see getting added. (Sure that CCP is already on it but still...) I jump on the passenger seat and another guy mans the turret, I am just sitting there, staring at the driver, thinking, fondling.. But as said above, this could save the driver from a awkward stare and would give the LAV's some more punch.
But only AR's and smaller. Backwash of a swarm launcher in Onikuma... Messy affair...
And a +1 for bringing up the idea. |

If they are worried about balance, maybe another option would be to make it "hip fire" style only (no ADS), to simulate how difficult it would likely be to fire properly from a sitting position at awkward angles while bouncing around on the battlefield. |

Yep that makes alot of sense. I tried shooting from a speed boat a few times and I didnt even hit a tank sized target with an assult rifle. |

After playing Halo for so many years, I find that the passenger position is the worst place to fire a weapon from. This is because your aim is only as good as the driver's handling of the vehicle. On top of that, your range of motion is severely limited by the frame of the vehicle and the terrain it's riding on. In Halo, the passenger position is so useless that it's just a method of troop transport. |

I think that the point was that there should be an option to shoot, if you don't want to shoot then don't, but I would like to spray some covering fire while we are driving through enemies |
