Add option to group players in squads. Grouped players will see players of their group as [some color] dots and players from their squad but not of their group as green dots. This will make fighting in FW and PC more comfortable. Reason is the bigger the squad the faster it can earn OB, so on PC it's better to fight as platoon. But you need to play in team, and if there is 4 fireteams they can easily stay grouped and do their work easily (so, squad A attacks point Alpha , every member of A squad can see every other member of A squad as green dot, and members of other squads as blue dots. But if there's one big platoon everyone is marked as same green dot and it's very confusing) |

This is how it should have been implemented, multiple squads (4 man) within 8 man / 16 man groups.

I feel like there should be the option to set a second squad leader inside of a squad, and up to 4 in a platoon.
Obviously the best solution would be as you describe, being able to have two fireteams inside of a squad etc...but that requires redesigning the code and interface for group creation.
A game that did this really well was Resistance 2. You had a team of 50, with 5 groups of up to 10 players each. When you joined a battle you would automatically join into a public squad, and you could manually join any other open squad by selecting the corresponding tab, which would expand the squad and see available slots and the current members.
Another game that Dust could learn from is the system in MAG. I never actually played that game, but I've heard a great many things about how fantastic the leadership options were for coordination of teams.

It is the way it is played on Planetside 2, and it is really efficient to deal with multiple squads of 12 players. That will do magic for Dust!

The way you describe is how ccp would prefer.
It's a spaghetti code issue, so we got the shortcut version while they work on the spaghetti.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.

EvE uses the fleet mechanic and I honestly don't know why something similar was not implemented in dust.
- To make it as simple as possible the platoon leader can choose up to two people to give out orders. This could be implemented by the same system that designates squad lead and is already coded for. I think with a minor tweak they can give the platoon leader the ability to hand out "tags", if you will, so the system "Tags" sub-leader 1 and sub-leader 2. These tags give the the same role as the squad lead but the tag changes the color of the order so Hierarchy is clear to the ones seeing the order. Simply and/if statements really (or so I believe).
- Define the color of the squad orders:
- Red for platoon leader
- Green for sub-leader 1
- purple for sub-leader 2 (although if it was like EvE I would love purple to be the main color)
- Any other color for more leaders
- Sub-leaders commands can only be seen by those directly under them.
- Platoon leader gives command to the whole platoon and everyone can see them
- Possible extra: Sub-leaders can invite people under their command
- Example: I have a friend I want to ring for me; I can invite him under my command and coordinate what I want him to do
- everyone pitch in ideas; this could be useful and possibly easy for the devs to implement
