Looking at the vehicle vs AV situation right, the basic AV weapons suck, you'll get a kill with Adv if you're lucky. Right now, proto AV has trouble taking out proto tanks. Can you take out a basic tank with basic AV? No chance. Its even tough with Adv AV. So my proposal is to equalize damage from basic to proto for AV, Ex: Basic swarms does the same damage as the proto swarms.
Of course change the lock on/ charge up time for these weapons. (Talking specifically about swarms/forges)
Example: Basic Swarms: Damage = 312 Lock On = 1.8 s DPS = 693
Adv Swarms: Damage = 312 Lock On = 1.6 s DPS = 780
Proto Swarms: Damage = 312 Lock On = 1.4 s DPS = 891
Basic Forge: Damage = 1440 Charge up = 5.0 s DPS = 288
Adv Forge: Damage = 1440 Charge up = 4.5 s DPS = 320
Proto Forge Damage = 1440 Charge up = 4.0 s DPS = 360
This is to make basic/Adv AV more viable, idea came up from tiercide recently introduced. The above is just an example can the stats can be changed as seen fit. My DPS calculation might be flawed as I just divided damage with lockon/charge time.

The thing is, any attempt to balance AV around effective tank-killing results in dropships and LAV's being rendered functionally useless. Indeed, I believe that is the case now; LAV's and DS are coffins by another name, Shield HAV's seem ok at a glance but suffer from the cumulative negative effects of poor module design/bugs/shields in general, and armour tanks are Eternal and we should be able to aim NULL cannons at them just to even the odds :/

I still fail to see the value in jeeps that require antitank weapons to destroy.
It's incredibly dumb.

It doesnt even matter, the only things that matters right now are whether the tanks' hardeners are up or down and how many AV players you have shooting at the tank. |

AV weapons don't suck, AV weapon user just need some skill to use it efficient(obviously I don't mean that you need skill to use swarms). For example, combination of std plasma cannon, adv mines and adv packed AV grenades can destroy proto gallente tank with active hardener (or two, I don't know), saying because I did it (it was blaster tank, I layed mines on road, shot tank with plasma cannon, it tried to get near me to kill me and triggered mines, then grenades done their work and final shot of plasma destroyed tank). AV weapons shouldn't be able to destroy enemy tank in 1v1 easily , cause tanks will become useless. Instead single AV weapon must be able to harass vehicle, and multiple must be able to quickly destroy it. |

Excluding the idea the original poster possibly has that any AV weapons should in most cases always be able to kill a tank, the request itself is good.
It is so true that basic AV weaponry is near useless. It is a side effect of (very correct way) balancing things by their most powerful version combined with concept 'lower tiers deal lesser damage'.
+1, It would be good that lower tier AV weapons would have the same damage potential, but are more difficult to use or clumsier or slower.
