*DISCLAIMER - The goal of the app would be to keep contact with the game. Not to complete it, not to replace it in any way. Just to support it, helping players keeping contact with each other and with the game.*
We are numerous to think that such an app would help corporations of more casual players (but no only) to keep it together, be more productive, and more challenging in the game. Plus it would add a huge boost to community activity and life.
IDEA
-allowing players to be able to have an idea of what is going on on DUST514 while they are away from the PS3 (corporation life and player chat rooms)
-allowing players to communicate with their mates online, without perturbing game experience
-giving the opportunity to players to think their game (next SP investment, next market purchase, next district attack/defense strategy, next booster management, next daily mission to focus on, etc), while away from DUST, to then be able to do it and play more the game by turning the thoughts into actions while in front of DUST.
FEATURES
-Features broadly present what the player will be able to do with the App.
1 - ability to use chat rooms already joined in-game
2 - ability to check district status and informations
3 - ability to check storefront and sales of the day
4 - ability to access character and check its infos
a - ability to check active SP ON/OFF
b - ability to check total SP accrued / available SP / remaining weekly SP pool
c - ability to check ISK / AUR / LP wallets
d - ability to check daily missions status panel
e - ability to check current activated boosters
FUNCTIONS
-Functions indicate precisely what can and cannot be done with the App.
1 - can only talk on already joined chat rooms
>cannot create/join new chat rooms
>can only access chat rooms joined by selected character
>cannot use mic
2 - can only consult district status and basic info
>cannot manage districts
>cannot move any clones
>cannot setup either an attack or a defense
3 - can only view storefront and sales of the day
>cannot actually purchase anything (either ISK/AUR/LP)
4 - can only -½ app-log -+ one character at a time
>can only access info/chat room/etc of the -½ app-logged -+ character
>cannot turn ON/OFF active SP
>cannot spend SP or reroll SP
>cannot spend any currency (either on market of fitting panel)
>cannot restock fitting, exchange ISK or items
>can only check daily missions, cannot refresh them
>cannot active any booster

I agree with you. On the other hand, Xperia smartphones run Android for OS.
A good app would help the game to reach more people, indirectly attracting more players to DUST (and let's believe, to PS3).
