Haven't encountered them on any of my chars since the last event, nor have my friends and associates. Previously, at least one char would have them every day or two. Anybody seen 'em? Hope they aren't gone permanently, not even making a dent in these damned boxes without.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing 3-5 keys rewarded automatically for completing all of your rewards for the day. This is in addition to whatever the special mission reward is that day.

Yup I haven't had a 5 key reward in a long long time. Some times it was great, you got the reward for completing just one mission that day.
That said You seem to get the 1 and 2 key rewards more often now. Sadly most of them are rewards for stupid stuff activate the instant booster 5 times to get 1 key.....
And let me just add to this day I've never gotten a key as salvage rewards either and I play quite a few pubs. I wonder if that is something else they have removed from the game. |

and let us have 1 key per match completion with over 1k WP.
That might encourage people to stick out matches and actually fight over stuff instead of giving up at a bad start.
Is 1k too high?

That would just mean everyone would try to go logi and heavy combo. No one would bother doing anything else but being a logi slave. It's easy enough to get several thousand in that case, let alone a single thousand. |

At this point though I wouldn't mind that if it gets ppl to actually play and gets rid of my strongboxes.

Eh, it's not really as simple an issue as 'I want to get rid of these boxes, please give out more keys', and a lot of people don't seem to get that. CCP gives us a very small amount, and rarely a small handful, of keys on purpose. It plays off the same thing every other paid random generation reward plays off of. Gambling addiction.
Getting a guaranteed key from daily missions, an occasional extra or two or five from other mission rewards, and us now getting daily AUR when we log in for us to buy an occasional key, CCP is already being fairly generous in their key distribution. It's just enough to give us keys to open a couple of boxes, but still agitate us that we have more, or make us think 'what if I get something great in the next one?'
The random contents of the strongboxes and the very small number of keys given out are a business ploy. It's to give us a taste of easy to obtain and 'cheap' high ranking gear and make us want to get more. And keys are pretty cheap. Why, for just four dollars you could buy ten keys and potentially get a $40 BPO or skin. And that's exactly the kind of thinking these strongboxes rely on. But, honestly, if CCP made it any easier to get free keys, they'd probably start losing out on a lot of money.
Plus CCP basically paying their players to play their game is a terrible business model. |
