There we were, both teams were tied in Skirmish. We were playing on Ashland. There was about 65% of armor left on both MCC's. Just about all of my team mates were busy trying to fight for the null cannons near the redlines so I found myself mostly alone patrolling one of the central null cannons.
I was protecting installation A and was standing near the bridge between A and B. I was right over the rail turret.
From there the assault started. First the militia guys came at me. They were two militia Caldari mediums. I killed them quickly, but the second the last one died I got shot by a Sniper. He took out almost all my health, but I didn't have any cover except for a small wall between me and letter B. My repair rate was to 26. Within seconds my health was near 80%. I decided to waste no time. Next I saw that two more were coming across the bridge.
The first was a Minmatar Assault. I nearly killed him with my AR, but he fell to his death when he jumped off the bridge with his Myofibril jump. His backup was an Amarr Assault and he was cautious about getting close. The closest he got was hiding behind crates halfway across the bridge. I reloaded behind the wall as he charged his Scrambler Rifle and I heard the occasional Sniper shots wiz passed me.
I popped out and he hit me with his charged shot but I also hit him with my charged Ion shot. Within a second my armor was already at a hundred percent, but his wasn't so he hid. Next a scout tried to sprint across the bridge. I riddled him with my AR and he grazed me with a shotgun, I ran out of shots in my rifle and switched to my Ion Pistol. As I heard a Sniper Rifle shot in my direction, I blasted him with hot plasma until his body turned grey.
I reloaded my pistol and looked over the bridge to see two Gallente Sentinels crossing over with HMG's. My first thought is, Where is everyone on my yean. The second is, there's no time to reload my AR. So I decide to try to take out as much health from both of them as I can.
When they are halfway across the bridge I do I charged shot on the one in the back. He hides behind the crate. The one in front blasts me in the face with what could only be a burst HMG while I drill him with every round I have left in my.magaxune. He backs up. I lost a quarter of my health. I take the time to reload, and they try to catch me reloading, and sprint to my side. After reloading and taking the time to charge up my pistol I have almost all of my armor back. Just before they can set foot on my side I dash in front of them and shoot.
And I miss at point blank! They shoot me and take out almost half my armor.
So I dance to the side and wait for my gun to cool. During that time I get back a quarter of my health. I then decide to do a suicide attack and just riddle them with bullets. Both of them only have about 3/4 of their armor left. So I start hipfiring like a mad man. I kill the one in the front by almost emptying my mag on him. I only have two shots left for the second one. I get the penultimate shot off, and I see he has only a fifth of his health left. He's close to death but not close enough for one Ion Pistol shot.
Luckily for me I was panicking so much, while dancing around with heavies while I sniper shot at me, that I accidentally over-sampled the last shot on the Ion Pistol. Which means the Server decided to charge it. So when the last shot when off I murdered that Sentinel.
After that a friendly logistics player finally decided to back me up.
Then, just when I think It's finally over. A guy with a Rail Rifle got on the pipes above my head and started shooting at us from above. Which meant I had to hug the 1.5 meter wide wall to avoid dying to him. My logi buddy died almost instantly. That finally pissed me off!
I danced like I never had before and simply fired across the bridge: constantly switching between my AR and Ion Pistol in a flurry of plasma. All the while I kept being shot at from across the bridge only to be healed to full armor within seconds. It was so intense that my shields never rose up passed 1/3 the entire time I was there. The fighting felt endless.
Eventually I was flanked from the side and there wasn't any other place to hide. There weren't any walls left to hug. So I just shot everything I had till I ran out of ammo, was shot by that sniper and that Amarr Assault finally killed me.
I held that bridge long enough that my team one. Though I couldn't have done it in any other suit, but the Gallente Assault. Only that suit is prepared to take a hit, and give one back harder, repair itself and do that again, and again, and again!
Gallente Assault, I salute you.
And yes, I was acused of hacking while the match was in progress

I long for the days before aim assist, this story reminds of of an epic defense I had in the green mushroom patches ago. Back then the calassault could manage this, but it was a hell of a lot more sketchy and involved much more moving.

Ion pistol is surprising. Ran out of ammo on my alt's proto galscout uplink suit, maybe 250 ehp. Outside point was under constant pressure, three of us vs. six of them. That adv ion pistol took down seven suits before i made a stupid positioning mistake. Big eye-opener, tbh, never knew the weapon could perform like that.
Haven't gone full damage modded proto ion pistol yet, but it's definitely on the 'to do' list.

Yes, I too absolutely enjoy the reps. Having the enemy blow a grenade in your face only to basically see your armor weave itself back together in only a few seconds while you break through their shields and armor with a steady hand.
It is truly one of my favorite gameplay styles in any game.

The max. difference in both suits reps is barely few or less points I have to agree. But the Amarr suit isn't as free or sexy.

BRB, doing my patriotic duty and queuing for Gallente FW. In Caldari gear. It's not about the freedom that you wear, but the freedom that you make.

I may be a Caldari loyalist, but I love how Gallente suits can pull this off. I can't count the number of times my Gallente Commando has come out of the stickiest of situations as the sole survivor. I've gotten used to seeing dead bodies at my feet...
I salute you. o7

Crying aesthetically pleasing, risque tears of Gallente patriotism here.
(Technically the Caldari are still a member nation of the Federation since most but not all of the Caldari joined the independence movement. At least that's what I tell myself.) |
