Is this possible? Make it possible!
Packing two pistols or fighting with just two knives would be awesome. Better yet, two shotguns. Better still, how about two heavy machine guns... ? |

I could see MAYBE pistols and SMGs, but even then, I'm never going to touch that. This is a skill and objectives game, not run and gun spitting

You can equip two pistols, but you cannot dual wield them. Pistols are insanely awesome as it is. Dual wielding them would be the most broken thing ever. |

I have no problem with pistol or SMG duel wielding. Just because CoD did something doesn't mean that it automatically becomes a terrible idea. |

Ha, should've kept my trap shut. Never played CoD. Was just running around with a pistol and thinking, this is a great weapon. What if I could shoot two at time!?!
I am all for giving players choice. I understand the great thing about EVE (which I have not played either) is that there are really not a lot of limitations to what you can and can't do, if willing to invest the time and effort. Saying that this game is DUST and therefor must be very staid and serious with none of that wild shooting funny business is really only limiting player choice. Obviously a sprint and spray play-style would probably not get you very far in a situation that does call for some very considered tactical know how. But it should be dictated by the goal players are trying to achieve where the players decide, hey, this doesn't work. THis is just dumb. Rather than there being some kind of codified stylistic approach that constrains gameplay.
It would be great to see rag tag mercenary corporations with absurd load outs. It would also be great to have very by the book mercenary corporations that follow strict load out schemes and all have shiny boots.
That said, the risk is that you could introduce a mechanic that is broken and OP that everyone uses to get wins and just isn't fun. Or something that really is just goofy. |

The pistols are one of the best (If not the best) weapons in the game. Wielding two of them would be insanely overpowered, even if you lost the ability to actively aim them and had to rely on hipfire. Their hipfire accuracy is too good for this not to be a 'win button'.
Sorry, it's a cool idea. But it's also a bad idea for Dust. It just wouldn't work :( |

Then lower hipfiring accuracy, or take away the aiming reticle, or both. Might take some balancing, but doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. |

make it to where when you reload...you have to stop firing both weps in order to reload one and no grenades can be thrown unless selected from the equipment screen pluss extended reload times
i see that as a decent trade off but i think only pistols and smgs should be DW weps and its pointless to take away the aiming ret when i know that the bullets are going dead center...dropping the hip fire acc is a better way to go |

I have no problem with duel wielding sidearms as long as the ability to aim is removed, reload time is extended, and accuracy gets a penalty. |

In Eve it has been said
"Playing Minmatar is like riding an armchair down a set of stairs while firing six Uzis strapped on with duct tape"
You sure you want to settle for DUAL wield? :P |

I will go with a no regarding this issue.
These mercs are soldiers, not cowboys. As such, they go in with "standard" (in th esense of a rifle, armour, appropriate equipment to the job) battle ready loadouts.
Who with any sense would go into battle with 2 pistols and no rifle? |
