I seem to be permanently scanned these days. You have to cheat in most games to wall hack, but in Dust it's a mechanic. And the whole team sees the scans.
Sure I could scan the other team all day long too, but two wrongs don't make a right.
Seems a daft situation if you ask me. |

Eh hard to really take scouts seriously since their speed tends to let them one shot people any ways, even with scans going. Plus you have to consider it's not easy to have a perma scan going. The logi tends to have to run 2-3 scanners minimum just to cover a small part of the map. If your perma scanned on the entire map, well that means at least 4-5 of the other team are all semi useless logi's running scanners. It's taking vital equipment out of the other teams hands to do so. The obvious choice would be to stop running a scout.
Just like if your constantly getting knifed in the back by scouts the obvious choice is to pull out some scanners...
If you have to stay scout and you won't change your mind, shift up your fit a bit. Forget dampeners or cloaks since they won't do much good. Push speed, dmg and survivability. Move so fast and so hard it won't matter if they see you or not. |

Because Scouts are generally the only ones that complain about being scanned? The rest of us are down for a fight and don't care if you see us, you still have to kill us xD
10% of US schools no longer teach Cursive. A decade from now, 10% of the US isn't going to understand all the squiglies.

Yeah, but it does lead to some pretty lame gameplay. |

Its very easy to perma scan, all you have to do is have one guy sit 200 meters from the battle and arc your scan towards the action.
All it takes is for you to be a joyless piece of trash who thinks its fun to play balerina for 20 minutes instead of playing the game so that your team is basically cheating with wall hack the whole match.
I think scanning is a pretty un-fun and failed mechanic, but thankfully you dont have to deal with it in most pubs so whatever. |

You don't have to be 200m away to scan, in fact it's best if your not that far away since the longer range scans last far less. In fact if you are truly permanently scanned it's most likely a logi within 100m, or a group of them. A single logi with 200m scanner will only be able to maybe perma scan one narrow beam if they rotate them all on roughly the same location.
As for being a joyless piece of trash.. well that's what team work is about. You can't all be frontline fighters with the super high KDR. some people have to defend objectives with no one around, some people scan. Some people snipe/overwatch. Heck even most vehicles are a waste of time since they drive around doing nothing for the objective and on some maps get very few kills due to their inability to get close to the action.
If you don't care about winning and just want to all run around like headless chickens then it's a good thing you like to stick to pub matches. Obviously your a lone wolf that hates playing for a team. |

Arcing scans from 200 meters away creates a very large arc.
Teamwork is not about being a joyless piece of trash, its very fun to run in a squad that actually acts as a squad. Having one of your players sit there and scan constantly is basically putting him in time out, and if he isnt constantly scanning, then you arent being perma scanned.
So yes herpa derpa I like pubs, because the broken balance of the game isnt relentlessly exploited there by try hards (most of the time), so sometimes pubs are actually fun. Unless you think being scanned constantly and having murder scouts pop up behind you and one shot you while you try to break up yet another nearly unkillable heavy/logi combo while some **** plinks at you from overwatch on some bridge and you try to avoid a nearly unkillable **** in a python trying to missile you to death is fun. |

For something that can effect the match so much, there should be a more viable and interesting counter. Something like a scan jammer, or even better a scan spoofer that would make scanned dots appear in the wrong place. Or even cause red dots to appear that don't really exist...

Meh. As a Minmatar Scout I'm using to being scanned anyways because my suit doesn't have any EWAR. The question is can you catch up to me?

No more lame than Blacklight Retribution where you can literally see through walls and look at the person you're wanting to kill for a duration. At least with this there is some level of uncertainty - you don't know what kind of suit they're running, what kind of weapon, fitting, etc.
