I feel an event in FW would be very fun, and serve this game well.
With the recent squad changes, FW has so far enjoyed quite a spike. The timing is perfect.
Here's an example of what I think would be an awesome FW based event.
Take one planet in each war (G/C) and (A/M)
Over the course of a week, FW players would fight for a particular planet in their respective war. Some lore reason would determine particularly fierce fighting for these two planets.
At the end of the week, the Faction that won more battles would spike to 100% ownership.
All players who participated in at least 5 victories during the week would gain lots of LP, and Faction gear, and standing, maybe some other goodies.
Additionally, the top 20 performers for each faction would get unique Faction SKIN's. Top performers would be those who participated in the most victories, tiebreakers would then be WP, and then kills.

In some respects I like this.....in others I don't.
I'm more or less of the opinion that this is always how FW should work, not randomly bouncing us around regions and planets we have no reason to care about. Regional control means nothing to both Dust players and EVE players. Only Localised control values really are worth something.
On the other hand I think we'd find CCP stretched to actually come up with reasonable explanations every few weeks for why something is going on in a specific system.....especially when it affects localised control so dramatically. Moreover controls would need to be instituted so that each weeks 'Planet War' or whatever it's called so that players become more encouraged to support the faction that has lost previous consecutive events.
The only other aspects of this that I don't like is that all it serves to really do is perpetuate this idea that FW is just a place for players to farm specific content.
EDIT: You could call the weekly, bi-weekly, monthly conflicts 'Flash Points' which are conflicts that just sparked up out of nowhere and became climactic battles.
