Sometimes killing people is hard. What's harder is not killing someone and hoping someone else takes the kill before their shields regenerate enough to count you out of an assist. It's even harder when you're playing a role that doesn't lend itself to mass murder. Like logistics.
Getting an objective hack in in these events can be difficult with everyone maxing out on KinCats to get to an objective faster, leaving a hefty few in the dust and unable to get even a single one throughout multiple matches. Having to rely on standing directly in front of an objective as close as possible so others can't get to it, and letting an enemy's hack finish so they can try to get their own and hoping they got it before the guy standing next to them, shouldn't be a thing.
Destroying installations is god damn annoying, drawn out by how long they take to kill for lower level players and compounded by how few there are in a match and how easy it is for someone to camp your installation kill and swoop in at the last second, leaving you both low on ammunition and incredibly frustrated, and made worse by the fact that in pubs, where most people are, a good number of those installations belong to your team and are undestroyable.
My suggestions?
For kill assists, allow the Logi's Guardian to count as a kill assist. Not as a full kill, no extra points for it, still just +35, but let it count as a kill assist for missions. Maybe they aren't directly killing the red, but aren't they assisting by keeping their ally alive? This way logisitcs don't have to worry about stopping their most important job to plink someone with a BB gun, and logibros or 'pacifist' players can still complete these missions.
Allow Hack Assists and especially Counter-Hacks to count toward the hack total. If not assists, then please, definitely Counter-Hacks. Those are hard enough to get as it is, what with how long they take to get in, and the added fact that if you're countering the enemy may still be around to gank you. Unless you're drowning in Complex Codebreakers Counter-Hacks take a while to get through, even with allies, so it's no hard task for a red to come up on you while you're hacking and get a kill in.
Let assists count towards installation destruction. But not just plinking at it once or twice. Give it a minimum threshold you need to meet in order to get the assist. Say 3,000 or 4,000 damage. That way it will encourage people to gang up on an installation, rather than jerk your own team mates around by selfishly taking it for yourself.
You want an easier time getting the straight kills, though? Git gud, scrub. |
