Still a problem.
200M Tri scanning gal logi's are OP.
Duration should.greatly be reduced to balance the 200M scans.
Nerf duration to 3 seconds.
The long range scans would then be equally accurate, but would provide more of a 'snapshot' of enemy positions at the time of the scan.
Short range scans would be for long durations, as the reward should reflect the risk of getting that much closer to the enemy

Active scanners need to become active. No more of this snapshot nonsense: have it have a charge like the cloak that depletes as the user scans. Makes the Logi actually vulnerable, since they don't have a gun out, and makes it somewhat more rewarding as you could pinpoint enemies for your squad.
Similarly, there are other balances that people have suggested dozens of times: The scanner is also highlighted by those they have scanned The scanner has a equip delay (like the cloak) Reduce the angle, so they can't scan huge swathes of the field ...and so on.

Everything should be scannable with even basic scanners. The acquisition times however should be lowered and duration extended for higher end gear. Interesting dynamic and based on real life experiences (and I'm leaving it at that)

It's a high-tech future war universe. Why dumb it down?
This is EWAR. Good tactical behaviour still usurps the benefits that EWAR provides while allowing conditions where if good tactical behaviour isn't used good EWAR will tip the scales against you, while not guaranteeing the EWAR sides' success. They are short term, temporary scans. Its not a deathray unless you don't heed the warning you get telling you you've been scanned and change your behaviour.
I'd love to get a warning that told me I was being aimed at.

So, you're saying the EWAR/Scanning system is perfectly fine as it is?
If not, please let us know how you like to see it changed.

o/ Talos
Alena typed up what struck me as a very reasonable proposal: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=206929&find=unread
Would love to hear your thoughts.

Well, what I don't see is a broken system or anything OP.
Apidem at one point had an example showing a kb/m input still allowing 360s. I said then and will say again if thats the case then obviously theres an issue with the kb/m input somewhere which should be the focus of any fixing.
Other than that I think base profiles could be moved closer to create more passive overlap, especially with skills and/or mods so that more roles have more direct EWAR interplay or participation instead of the seemingly ( seemingly) Scouts and GalLogi exclusivity we have now.

I think the problem is the DB level & or recharge of the 200m scan, when i started using the CreoDron flux scanner, it was to highlight vehicles, equipment and snipers, but it seems to be used mainly for infantry now,
Scan the hole map with two or three, soon as you get some margin of error use Duvolle focused scan on that area & repeat.
Really useful scanner with the 200m range but its used in place of the other scanners because of its Gallente logistics level 5 bonus (21DB), and even then i see assaults using it & its still really effective at 28 DB,
Its killing games for new players, if there's any left & as if they aren't toast anyway, they get scanned from 200m away, not to mention the 360 degree scan glitch.
I don't know the answer to its ballance, but it needs to be looked at... +1
