As a person who was involved with the castlevania: curse of darkness community & speed running community for that game... Plz no. Backflips were outright the fastest way to move around, but only if timed properly so that you only did the first portion of a two-part handspring.
I did a decent chunk of Innocent Devil planning in that game and its where I first encountered the word "rasetsu"
