That would mean the PS4 clients and the PC clients signing in to the same battleservers. In terms of connection to Tranquility, CREST has solved that problem in advance.
Nothing stops this in principle, but would it be something that could be worked out with Sony? We'd have PSN players in a game with non-PSN players.

After witnessing the great KB/M vs DS3 "debates" on these same forums back when my original clone was born, I would say CCP would have to really put in some serious work to make both groups feel like they were on somewhat even ground.
Also, there is the issue (or supposed issue) of hackers PC side. Not sure how valid the concerns are, but hacking fears could possibly damage the player base.
Other than that a Dust/Legion on both PC/PS4 would be awesome. Playstation folks would flock back in droves, and PC people would be happy as well.
And CCP would be happy, because they would make a bunch of money.
Why do you not want my money CCP? I gave you 200 bucks back then (and I don't regret it) and there was so much more to come.
Help me help you CCP. |

It is absolutely impossible and inconceivable for CCP to even consider doing such a thing. They don't have the care, know how, or money to take on such a task, and if by some miracle they did... You'd never be able to play it on any platform due to bgs and fatal errors lol |

Please no. PC, yes. But we don't need a console to hold the PC version back.

Hahahahahahaha!!! No, it wouldn't. Microsoft already tried cross-connecting a few games. Their results were incompatible play experiences, and cross-hacking. Most notably PC players were dumping the xBox players offline to win games.

Help me help you CCP. The other concern is the extra resources that need to be put into it- for one, the UIs would need to be different. Most people don't know this, but the UI is a massive pain to navigate for KB/M users.
Patches would also be tricky- in war thunder, you usually see the message "Note: This update applies to PC/Linux/Mac users. PS4 Users will receive the update as soon as possible." This could provide the problems of a glitch or exploit only possible for one group.
As far as "hackers", that's definitely a nonissue made up by console players. Only ****** and/or old games have that issue. Eve is not one of them.

PS4 players are generally considered to be a liability to have on your team, due to ****** controls, and that their graphics settings are locked- PC players can have a longer render distance, which is actually extremely valuable in that game for spotting targets before it's too late.

I'm sorry, but by programming terms, if they can make a game that runs decently on a console, that means that their programming capacity is pretty good.... relatively speaking.
In other words, console programming weeds out the "Junk boxers" from the content producers. Things like streamlining the production and making the environment WORK over "Look Like a Special Snowflake".
That's how a lot of our current predicament came around. They opted for appearance over learning how to optimize performance.
A lot of PC programmers do things that draw absolute butt loads of unneeded data from the CPU and other resources, but they can "gloss" it over because of the higher system capacity.

Balancing this game on one platform have pretty much proven to be impossible. Now you are proposing balancing this game across 2 very different platforms?
Are you insane? Do you even logic bro? |
