I perform better in that suit than I ever have in any suit because it compliments my playstyle exactly.
Though, I don't like it anymore.
I don't because of strafing. Strafing is a good part of shooters, but in most games when you catch someone off guard they die with a few shots to the back. Here I can just jump in the air, spin around and move back and forth faster than the game can accurately pass on my position to the server.
If it wasn't because of latency I wouldn't mind it, but latency is unavoidable even during games with good connections.
This is why I support the decision to reduce the speed of dropsuits in the game. Latency was never meant to impart such a strong decision in the outcome of fights, and yet it does. I will agree that it is better now then it ever was before. Though the PS3 is at the peak of its limit with this game, and asking CCP to squeeze out any more performance would be asking too much of a team that has too little to work with, has done so much and plans to do much more.
I would prefer a high speed "twitch" shooter with Halo esque fights. Though, honestly that's never what Dust was meant to be, and because of technological restrictions it's not reasonable for it to be.
I respect CCP's decision because I respect how far they came even after everyone told them to give up: not only the critics that rate games, but their own fans- including this one.

I was way better wearing an Assault M-1 than my skills should dictate.
Hopefully these changes bring the suit back to a balanced state.

I used the amarr assault whenever there was some punk-ass shotgunning or mass-driving jumpy min assault. Best gun to use in a 1v1 situation, long distance or CQC

I've recently speced another commando. Can't wait for their buff. Playing in assault suit is now kind of boring.
Ps. Speed/strafe changes will benefit scouts. It will be easier for SG-ers to land shots, harder for enemies to strafe out of SG, NK.

Been using my Amarr Assault for the past season or so, pretty much ditched the minmatar anticipating a stamina and movement nerf on the horizon...
Not going to waste my time on something that I know is going to change eventually, quite drastically.
Things are always changing in this place, just learn to ride the waves and anticipate the troughs.

just going to cut in, dust was made if the fairly early days of the ps3 and even with all its upgrades, its still not pushing the ps3 ANYWHERE near its limits, look at games like BF3,4 and Destiny those games still dont even push it as far as it can go, the games we're working on at my studio can push the ps3 much further, usually its toned downed though to fit on a disk or to not take up your whole HDD |

Do those games have even remotely the number of gear combinations and skill related "boosts"?

Min assault needs toning down (and that looks like it will happen in the next update), but "strafes faster than almost all scouts" is not true. Just for historical record. |

That's no reason to stop using a suit.
I stopped using minmatar assaults and started using gallente assaults. Not because I think either is OP, but because I realized that the gallente assault was a much better fit to my combat philosophy of how an assault should be used.
I actually respecced into becoming a jack-of-all-trades again, but not specific to any one race. Just using whatever suit and weapon combo best fits its role. Using: Amarr scout w/ sniper rifle (long-range uplink runner) Minmatar scout w/ scrambler rifle (short-range uplink runner/hacker) Caldari logi w/ assault scrambler rifle, hives, and injector (point defense support) Gallente assault w/ shotgun (light infantry) Amarr commando w/ scrambler rifle and assault mass driver (medium infantry) Gallente sentinel w/ assault HMG or assault forge gun (heavy infantry)
my preference towards the scrambler isn't because they're OP right now (I plan to keep it post-nerf)- I simply like my rifles semi-automatic, and with some range to them.

I'm not seeing the suit bonus.
With each level, the Minmatar Assault Suit adds a 5% increase to clip capacity.
Using a Mass Driver with 6 rounds, and a Flaylock with 4, I should see a difference once I've reached level 4 Minmatar Assault Suits.
The Math is as follows:
Level 1 Minmatar Assault: 5% of 6 = .30, therefore no increase (Mass Driver) 5% of 4 = .20, therefore no increase (Flaylock)
Level 2 Minmatar Assault: 10% of 6 = .60, therefore no increase (Mass Driver) 10% of 4 = .40, therefore no increase (Flaylock)
Level 3 Minmatar Assault: 15% of 6 = .90, therefore no increase (Mass Driver) 15% of 4 = .60, therefore no increase (Flaylock)
Level 4 Minmatar Assault: 20% of 6 = 1.20, therefore + 1 (Mass Driver) 20% of 4 = .80, therefore no increase (Flaylock)
Level 5 Minmatar Assault: 25% of 6 = 1.50, no -additional- increase (Mass Driver) 25% of 4 = 1, therefore + 1 (Flaylock)
At Level 4 Minmatar Assault, my 6/4 Mass Driver and Flaylock should be 7/4

LOL strafe speed was 90% of movement speed so controller could strafe but you had a fair chance against them. now the strafe speed is 70% of movement and CCP reduced movement speed of assault suits (Minnie suits the most) real offenders of this was M/KB users who can STILL sprint from left to forward to right so they have 180 degrees of sprint direction. while controllers can only sprint from left/forward to forward to right/forward so 90 degrees of sprint direction. plus there is no dead zone or build up with M/KB movement. it is instant top speed in that direction unlike the controller.
what to skill into next?
