Okay look....in the trade channels (Alpha's Supply Depot & The Black Market) these is talk every day about the same things.
SCAMMING FARMING
Today I'm going to tackle farming. Why its not viable and you won't do it.
Now, lets say you have a playstation 3 console. You have 16 PSN's with 3 Dust 514 characters each. That's 16x3=48
Now personally? My warbarge makes 146,000 isk per day and zero exp weapons bc I don't have the lab yet. That's 1 of my 3 on this account. But lets give YOU the benefit of the doubt and say you have 48 characters @ 146,000 isk per day.
146,000 isk per day x 48 = 7,008,000 isk per day x 30 days = 210,240,000 isk per month.
Now, lets examine how much it costs to get there. Lets assume your main is already LOYALTY RANK 2 at least. That's about $10 spent at the very little.
$10
Now, add 15 more iterations of $10 = $150
So now you've spent $150 to farm Dust 514. 200 million isk a month, if you run tanks or full proto you're still broke. You've spent $150 real money to farm imaginary money in a video game.
I'm going to boot my PS3 up right now and test how long it takes me to start the game, get through all the loading screens and empty the warbarges in my account.....I'm going to have my fitbit and my iphone time it.
..........................
Okay....it took exactly 4 minutes and 15 seconds to totally do it.
4 minutes, 15 seconds x 16 accounts = 66 minutes, 40 seconds. Now you have to do this every 2 days and you have to get it right on the hammer otherwise you lose ISK.
BUT MICHAEL EPIC BRO YOU CAN DO IT WITH 64 PSN ACCOUNTS..........
Okay....again, timing adding/removing accounts....
....................
Took me 1 minute, 24 seconds to delete an account, log into another, create new account, name it User 1 or whatever default name it was, add the account (with a keyboard) and get it logged in. Add that on top of the 4 minutes, 15 seconds to unload a warbarge farm account = 346 minutes, give or take (I rounded up)
That's 5.74 hours every 2 days and you can't mess up otherwise you'll lose a little bit of everything.
Not to mention $10 x 64 = $640 (just to farm imaginary money in a video game)
Not going to happen.
BUT LETS SAY that you have multiple PS3's. I have 2 of them myself...one at work, one at home. That's $1200, 10 hours a day...you see how it spirals out of control?
Yeah, CCP doesn't give us good payouts for pubs. Yeah, the LR2 rank sucks....but I see why they did it. However....although there is some sad ******* out there that might spend 10 hours every 2 days (150 hours a month) to make imaginary money, he can't do it indefinitely. That type of redundant grinding will break your spirit.
So once and for all...farming on a large scale in Dust 514 is not happening. No matter what you think. YES I know you can donate to corp but all the math still applies except for minus the $640 or so.
But to be viable @ 200 million a month you would need 4-5 PS3's and if you bought 4-5 ps3's and all the hardware needed to run it on multiple TV's or equipment to allow you to change input on the fly....you aren't doing it.
(and if you are, for heavens sake bro get a hobby and put that money into something useful)

Sicerly Yaw wrote:all you need is two ps3's and a lot of patience, two main accounts are all you need to keep track of, if you do the alts as well you can make even more but in my opinion its not worth the hassle
play normally on both accounts split your time 50/50 focus on only upgrading the mobile factory and market network you can use the daily aur to slowly speed up the process if you wish
doing this over time will not be much of a hassle and will still net you in a nice passive amount of isk per day after say a years worth of time invested and by this point the accounts should have already reached the point where you can trade freely without having to have spent money just to farm not to mention that if you choose not to use the AUR you can use it to buy BPO's that will net you in a good amount while just playing the game
I don't recommend it but if you are patient enough it can pay out well without having to spend money if you already have acess to the two ps3's otherwise you can have two accounts on the same ps3 that you keep track of which makes more sense but being able to switch from one ps3 to another can have its benefits
But the folks in the trade channels are saying that people farm billions of isk from Dust alts and farming.
It doesn't happen. It can't happen. You'd need 5 ps3's doing 200 million isk a month to even farm ONE billion a month. That would be so much time you'd have time for nothing else...not eating, sleeping, showering or taking a crap lol
Its just not realistic bro.

Got That Dodi wrote:Ok, so back when I played, a bit over a year ago, I farmed accounts, but in a different way. This may have changed since then, but here is how I did it.
My PS3 allows me to have a maximum of 16 active PSN IDs. I had my main account and character (never actually ran alts), giving me 2 empty slots on my main for farming. Because I was paranoid about getting in trouble (at first), my first alt account had a "main" character. I would funnel the ISK from all the other characters to my "main alt", then send it from the "main alt" to my actual main character.
That left me with a total of 4 empty character slots on 2 accounts for farming.
I then created another 14 alt PSN IDs, with all 3 character slots dedicated to farming, which gave me another 42 empty character slots, for a grand total of 46 empty character slots for farming.
Each day, I would log into each account, create a new character in each of the 46 farming slots, send the ISK I was given as a new character to my "main alt", then send all of that ISK to my actual main, and biomass all 46 of my new characters, then get back on the next day and start the process all over again.
Back then you got 250k for each new character that was created, so 46 multiplied by 250k left me with 11.5 million ISK each day, for a grand total of 345 million ISK per month.
It took just a touch under 2 hours to do this, an hour and a half if I was on the ball.
And I didn't have to spend real money to do it.
Of course it was a massive pain in the butt, and I only did it for one month before I just couldn't bring myself to do it anymore. Of course, ISK was no longer an issue for the rest of my time in Dust.
This is not theory crafting. All the numbers, from the number of accounts to the amount of ISK to the time it took are exact. It was extremely unpleasant and it kinda burned me out on Dust.
I remember that...I used to do it too! That's why I said the grind would burn you out quick...it burned me out quick! I was able to pull it off for a month too before I pretty much hated Dust because of all the grinding just to make ISK lol
Farming these days would be expensive and as I stated before...unless you have multiple consoles and a crap ton of money you're willing to spend to make imaginary money....its just not viable.
EVEN IF YOU ARE willing to spend the money, its still not viable bc it takes too long lol
