I nominate that there be a time period in which it is impossible to leave the battle (without shutting down the system of coarse), and/or that there be a limit to the number of times you can quit... or else... (I'll just let your imaginations fill in that blank.)
I also nominate that there be a perhaps 3 second grace period of invincibility upon vehicle drop-off, that all viable landing zones be marked, landings are restricted from each others space or something because I am tired of people blowing up my vehicle or having it blown up because someone drops something on my vehicle (especially when I have a proto, dropsuit and/or vehicle) or because the ship doesn't want to move (or move fast enough) so I hit it taking of in my dropship... For that matter there should really be a remote recall option for when the ship won't release your vehicle.
Any supporters of any of that, please reply?... |

Some people have suggested a penalty that prevents quitters from entering another battle for a certain amount of time.

There should be a limit per day before that activates though cause Scotty is still the weakest link in all of Dust and you shouldn't penalize players for getting out of a match that is 50 to 80 inside of only 1 or 2 minutes either... :( |

Players need an incentive or reason to see a battle through. If the battle is so heavily stacked against them, they need to have a reason to be willing fight to the end rather than cut their losses.

I have an idea to minimize this problem here.
Take a look and let me know what you think.

Have an option in the settings menu to only be in battles with other qutting-averse players. Then all 30 of you can have fun only playing each other ad infinitum. |

The problem's been around long before the new matchmaker, it's just more noticeable now that no one gets pulled in to replace those leaving battle.

This guy does have an interesting idea, one that if the developers took a look at implementing maybe they could take it the rest of the way... Kudos!!! :) |

One of my favorite punishments involves the penalty that LoL gives quitters: Dodge a certain amount of matches, you have to wait 5 minutes ON TOP OF the search time for a match. Dodge more matches, that wait turns into 30+ min.

And you seriously think those players would actually wait around to log back rather than just delete the game and be done with it?

When FW matches are better than pubs with and without squading....I think we all know where the root of the problem is.
That and we need more incentives but matchmaking is completely horrid on my end. Pubs are damn near unplayable, and when they are playable its a redline.
It may be because of my Mu score but damn, it made pubs no fun at all.
7 vs. 16 isn't fun, its beating your head against a rock and calling it fun when a part chips off.

You know, super smash brothers does this. Though if a match is particularly laggy for me, as is usually the case, it just leads me to suicide my lives away so I can find a match with less lag rather then quitting to do so.
I suspect that doing this to dust, would fix the problem of people leaving, yet lead to another of people simply not playing.

I love the haters in Dust514! Instead of finding ways to make the game worth playing they want to punish those that don't play they way they think Dust514 should be played.
There are many games on my PS3 that I can play instead of Dust. And I suspect that is true for many normal (aka not EVE I only bought the PS3 to play Dust) gamers. So, guess what they will do after the leave the battle find they have to wait for another one? They will exit the game. Or they will start exiting battles with the Quit Game option. Which looks amazingly like a DC that we still get quite often in Dust. Then they will stop even logging in. You win! Them losers will be gone, never to return. Good for you, bad for Dust.
You want a fix? Alright, every day have a reasonable (not fantastic) reward for entering and finishing N matches. N being the random element. It is a possible daily challenge. It does make a difference personally. Even if I finish my dailies with one battle I will hang around to finish that requirement.
Find reasons to keep the players in the game. Quit dreaming up punishments, the more obstacles you erect the few gamers will play and they will tell their friends to keep away versus telling them to join them in game.
Unbalanced matches will only get worse when you force those on the edge out. Which is exactly what you are proposing.
My favorite tank is a Lightning. Just sayin.
