Does this mean that everyone will have the same slots for that suit no matter the level?
So basically an increase in PG & CPU and thats it?

So basically an increase in PG & CPU and thats it? The idea is that, yes, std, adv, and proto suits will all have the same slot count as our current proto suits. The only difference I believe will be pg/cpu.

Well there goes any need to gain any more SP or really play the game anymore. Stupid that all SP will do now is give CPU & PG.
What a waste of 3 god damn years
I can't see the point in playing anymore when thats all my SP will do.

Duhh, don't you spend any SP to fill those slots? Like...I don't know... Weapons?, Modules?, Equipment?
The suggested tiericide will only increase the flexibility of lower tier suites, resulting in slightly flatten power curve (STD will benefit the most, and PRO will basically be unchanged). |

All Basic-Proto suit's will have the exact same amount of module slot's, in other word's a basic cal assault will have 5 high's and 3 low's just like the proto cal assault, CPU and PG will remain the same as they are, probably changed maybe...

Tiercide. I guess it would be that we get three power cores being basic, advanced, proto. With their respective classes, race's and all the slots opened.
What i do not get is how are bpo's are going to differ, will they just be BPO's like right now and wont have a power core? |

Pretty sure rat's said that the BPO's and officer will be unique suit's and remain unchanged, either that, or the BPO will become power core's themselves and the officer will remain unchanged, all I know is, the officer gear remain unchanged (lol).

I can't see the point in playing anymore when thats all my SP will do. So, you're saying the only reason to get skills is for more slots in dropsuits.
Not for more PG/CPU Not for better weapons and equipment Not for better modules Not for skill bonuses Just slots
Are you telling me all of your SP is in basic suits?

I'm not trying to be a douche about this. All I'm trying to say is each level of Dropsuit Command will still have purpose and meaning, thus a reason to invest. Therefore, you haven't wasted 3 years on this game. (Well, we all might have wasted time on this game. But that's besides the point.)

Frankly, I'm going to love this update. You won't see nearly as many APEX spammers when Standard and Advanced can do the same thing as them, and better in some cases. Hell, I know I'm guilty of it. I was looking through my loadouts today and literally the only suit I have that isn't APEX BPO is my Minmatar hacker scout.
When Standard and Advanced suits get their slots updated I won't have any reason to use APEX because my Advanced, and in some cases even the Standard, can do it better. In all my APEX suits except the Atlas I have completely changed the set-up, or just equipped upgraded versions and slotted low CPU/PG cost throw-away modules to make up for the exchange. Why use APEX if Standard and Advanced finally have a chance to compete? Free basic gear? That stuff costs next to nothing, anyway, and it only costs, what, 12k SP to skill into level one for a module? Go into a battle or two, bam, you've got the SP for the basic gear an APEX would give you that you hadn't skilled into. So what if you lose a few thousand on death when you get over two hundred thousand at the end of the match?
The only reason anyone uses APEX right now is because of the slots and relatively low cost. Once the slots aren't special, well... hopefully CCP knows how to make APEX useful again once tiercide happens so that people will still want to actually pay for them, 'cus no way someone's going to give up that much money for a below mid-tier BPO power core and some basic gear they won't actually use. May as well go with Advanced for the increased CPU/PG and your own fitting. Not like a fully fitted Advanced costs that much. It's the suit/power core and weapons that take up most of the funds. The modules are damn cheap in comparison.
One thing I'll be extra happy about is being able to ditch the shiny 'shoot me' of the APEX suits. Fuckin' logi looks like it's wrapped in golden tin foil. Regular logi is already a vibrant target. |

Actually I have several proto suits. The point I am trying to make is that, when there is over 2mil sp difference between adv and proto, for it only to have more cpu and pg doesn't make it seem worth it to me.
Its the same with the tanks, a few of won't skill into them when the only difference is pg & cpu, it just doesn't seem worth it.
Also there is only a slight difference with each tier module, and its much cheaper.
So whats the point of running proto?

You seem to forget that with more PG+CPU you can fit better weapons, put better plates/shield extenders on, use better damage mods, use better equipment etc. Proto suits will still be vastly superior over STD suits because of that and you forget that every role gets bonuses with each lvl you spec into them.
Scouts= ewar+cloak fitting bonus. Assaults= fitting reduction to light weapons, sidearms and grenades+ race specific weapon bonuses Logis= fitting reduction of equipment+role specific equipment bonus Sentinels= splash damage, weapon resistances and heavy weapon fitting bonus commandos= reloead speed for light weapons+race specific weapon damage bonus
A player with lvl5 using a STD suit will have a advantage over a scrub who only has lvl1 and decides not to spec into it further. You see you dont just skill up for more PG+CPU you skill up to get additional bonuses which either help you in combat or allow you to squeeze better stuff onto your suit.
The update will balance apex suits and make STD/ADV gear more viable. It will aswell take more time to kill some 1 in a STD suit and not just roflstomp them. However Apex will still be better then STD suit BPO's cause they will have more PG+CPU compared to STD suits. Plus they come prefitted with some nice modules/weapons.
Rudimentary Mercs of scrubs and incompetence. You touch my mind, fumbling in Ignorance, incapable of understanding.

So whats the point of running proto? You say this as if CPU and PG are inconsequential stats. As if lower levels don't affect the quality of modules, weapons, and equipment used.
Standard tiers will have to use CPU and PG mods to be more viable, and I think it is for the better.
I am with the others that think this is a good thing.

I can't see the point in playing anymore when thats all my SP will do.
Slot increases are a hamfisted way to show progression and it really messes with the true sense of game balance. It is an artificial increase in "skill" whereas true player skill needs to be a natural one-for-one scale.
Imagine playing Chess where the black set has no pawns but instead has two kings, two queens, four bishops, etc. That isn't a good way to determine who is the more skilled and to say that that is "progression" is shoddy at best.
With Tiercide the new manner of progression will be that you and I are on the same level, suit-wise, and our skill investments and player skill are what determines the victor, not artificial advantages like "I have more slots than you, therefore I can fit more/better equipment". Your three years will stack up against a new player, still, in the form of bonuses (25% more armor/shields) and fitting application (higher CPU/PG through powercores and reduced PG/CPU costs on gear). Those advantages are less drastic and a good player can still win you over if they have better player skill even without the SP investment.
SP investment does not entitle you to a win. It does not guarantee you any sort of victory. It is merely a construct of minor advantages that you have earned through the years and it should never be that a veteran player is simply better than a newer player just because. In a perfect world, the powercores wouldn't even be a thing and you would just have the suit without any PG/CPU differences with the only differences between you and a new player is your experience and your SP investment toward skills.
This model is what is used in Eve Online and it is what has worked for over a decade now. There is a reason that it works. Further more, there is a reason Dust 514 is unique in this sort of tiered std/adv/proto gear... because other games realize that it isn't good for balance.

Tiercide at it's core doesn't really mean that. It means we would get less tiers or less difference between them ideally where the "higher" tiers are more specialized.
The specialized suits would be much better but rarely worth the extras ISK unless you're taking advantage of the specialized bonuses you would get.
I don't think the majority of the community would like how this would effect bonuses however.

The biggest thing that would need a rework is the amount of fitting plates/extenders use. T2 ships generally do have more slots than their T1 counterparts.
But you really can't put more than 2-3 plates/extenders on without sacrificing a lot.
