CONSOLES OR PC
I'll give my opinion, and list the pro's and cons of each.
I've been leaning towards consoles, due to the fact that I selfishly enjoy my couch and big TV more than a computer chair, but obviously there's more to consider. What's better for the game?
Let's try to look at this objectively and without bias.
CONSOLE
My thoughts are that the console audience is separate from the PC audience, meaning a chance to reap a player base completely separate from what already plays EVE and Dust. My concern with playing on PC is that most of the player base would come from current EVE and Dust players. There are tons of free to play shooters, space sims, sandbox games, and a wealth of other options on steam. How would Dust/Legion stand out amongst so much competition?
There would certainly be a lot less competition on the consoles. There really aren't a lot of options for console owners right now. Yes E3 had some big announcements, but lets be honest: When is the last time any E3 buzz lived up to the hype? Any of these games could be complete flops.
Let's also take into account the RL economy. People are poor these days, and games are only getting more expensive, take into account $60 price tags (and rising), season passes, mandatory DLC for online, and average 1 year shelf life of console shooters. Dust could slip right under the radar and undercut all these games, a lot of players are fed up with the predatory monitization of current developers like EA and Activision.
It's not a leap to say Dust is the best bang-per-buck option on shooters. 3 years of continuously improving game play and some players haven't paid a cent!
PC
Let's start with the obvious advantage: Hardware. In the long run, a port would look much better on PC. How big of a factor is this? Personally I'm satisfied with the graphics of Dust now, so any improvement would be more than enough for me, but do most people agree?
The real question to me is which platform would garner the largest player base? I actually haven't been able to find a straight breakdown of how many players there are per platform. If anyone can find reliable links to this kind of info please post it and I'll update this section
PS- PLAYSTATION NETWORK PSN Wiki page. Claims 65 million active accounts as of 2015. XB- XBOX LIVE XBL Wiki page. Claims 48 million accounts in 2014 PC- Steam player count Here is current peak player counts broken down by game on steam.
Battlefield 4 counts Here is a current breakdown of BF4 players on PS3, PS4, XB360, XB1, and PC. PC is the second smallest player base, only beating the XBOX 360 by a narrow margin.
What's not mentioned here is trend information. Are these numbers holding, growing, shrinking? If this info has been tracked I can't find it. If anyone has a reliable link to some more info on this I'll gladly update this post.
If these stats are at all indicative then consoles offer by far the largest community, making it the best choice in my opinion.
Ideal Scenario
If I could have my way, I would take CCP's original plan. Cross platform play between XB and PS.
If this were to happen the buzz would be insane. Gamers would flock to this.
The plan fell through though due to legal/technical issues, but does that mean it can never work? We're in a different time and on different hardware now.

I have a gaming PC and no PS4, so obviously I'd rather have dust on PC.
But let's suppose that I have both, then I don't really know which one to choose. I don't think you've stated the right drawbacks of both choices:
PC : There may be a lot of hackers and the game would die miserably due to CCP unability to fix that.
PS4 : CCP will still depend on Sony in order to update and manage their game. They won't be able to do whatever they want because Sony could say "nope". The server will also depend on Sony's, which sucks.
You can build a decent computer for ~500Gé¼, and that's the price you'd pay for a PS4 + subscription. So money isn't a point.

I would say PS4 would be a great port and even a PC version.
It has to be marketed as a high difficulty shooter, amid the Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 fervor.
It IS a complex shooter. More so than say Destiny.
Not to knock off Xbox but I feel like they already have the sci-fi shooter covered with Halo.

Citing cheaters on PC is laughable. People with the urge to cheat will do so.
I point you at any CFW (custom firmware) site as the reason where people openly discuss and distribute tools to let them cheat furiously in competitive PvP games.
CCP has better tools for murdering cheaters on the PC than I imagine they have on consoles. The rampant cheating, botting, and other modifications has been something they have gotten insanely good at compared to when they started.
The other reason I think PC is a more likely start point is that if CCP wants to link DUST to EVE properly, developing a link for PC is easier to both build then adapt to the PS4 than the reverse.
PC is generic architecture, no matter how much microsoft wishes you to believe otherwise. X86 represents a specific custom firmware. PC is easier to adapt FROM and I think is more likely to gain EVE dev support and time allotment after core issues get unscrewed.
Do I think one or the other should be first? I have no opinion. I'm comfortable either way.
If a decision is to be made, it means the decision was already made and locked in stone.
There is nothing player debate will change. Due to the timing of the ps3 going down slowly ccp would habe already had to start the process to beat that timeline. It's not as simple as "flip a switch, instant game"

Hackers simply don't have it easy breaking into consoles and altering the game to there favor when it concerns online servers. The amount of people even willing to risk it anymore is rather small, as it's easy to trace these days when people are inputting illegal script into your game as it's running on a server. It's easier on games like Dust that have it's own server and may not be as protected, but not a sony or MS run server. All you can really is do change your offline play experience using uploaded data from USB's. Trying to use it online play going to get you banned, especaially amateurs not protecting themselves before running the data/scripts
So this special group of users trading tools are working a little harder to make those tools work here then on PC, so the rampant use of one vs the other is obviously going to be a problem. |

Dont be that obvious. I know Pc = Hardware, but honestly. Game is not even fixed and you want port already? Pc is better i know, but there is hacker/cheater society as well. Consoles is not that gread around tekie thingy, but community is better for sure (and i saw many even the dark places of grid) and we have less amount of hacking ppl here.
Major issue what i see here is basicaly not problem around Ps3 itself (quite honestly i do not care about graphics, game should have great playability), but poor optimization for system.
The second major issue is neverending Lag what can be solved too.
If you will these two issues out, you can put whole team to more content and balancing ingame. But right now im still confused what is strategy of CCP really is.
How we can see globaly, there is some effort (and CCP admits in not that far past how Dust is profitable) to make things better, but it is still somehow chaotic.
If i will in lead i will fix issues with engine first and wierd server glitches for sure (and you will see that amount of people calling for port will be smaler), but sadly im not in rattatis chair and that is mean i should shutup (or i will be banned again) XD

*PC first, THEN PS4.
1) CCP knows how to develop for the PC already. This will put development more squarely in their wheel house. I think this would be a good way to start, with something they already know, given how relatively little their experience with FPS is.
2) PC has a broad audience. Even though only a fraction of them may actually pick up the game, and even fewer will stick with it for any significant period of time, they will have fresh eyes. This will broaden the revenue stream for the game alongside the revenue from the PS3. More resources fore development!!
3) The PS4 has an architecture more similar to the PC than to the PS3. It would, presumably of course, be easier to port a PC Dust/Legion/Phoenix to the PS4 than a PS3 port (plus with more resources! See point 2.)
4) The PC market is more saturated with FPS games and whatnot than the PS4, plus CCP will have to compete with Star Citizen on the PC to a degree, but won't have quite the same amount of competition on the PS4 (Planetside 2 is quite lame IMO, not to mention many fewer game options on the PS4, even a few years from now).
5) The console market is HUGE, and there is a very large portion of the console community that does not overlap with PC (i.e. they solely play consoles). Having a presence on a console, or consoles, will again make a broader audience (its why so many games are cross platform).
*THIS ASSUMES THE LARGEST PART OF KINKS AND BALANCE HAVE BEEN WORKED OUT, AND THERE IS A STRONG FOUNDATION IN TERMS OF CONCEPT AND GAME PLAY. PORTING A P.O.S. WILL JUST MEAN FAILURE.

I can really see no drawback of PC port due to fact that you can play it with steam machine with controller at tv like a normal console.
CCP is very good in monitoring eve online and cheaters are banned. Same will happen for dust cheaters.

Honestly i think the major issue here will be brand itself and Sony. I will be fine if there will be version for Pc and Xbox (im against any kind of favoritism) but i still care about his game. There is still too much to do and CCP should push themselves to finish it before there will be another release.
