Legion seems to have been shutdown making their only currently announced title or "project" Eve Valkyrie.
Dust remains on a bit of a skeleton crew with no announced future even seeming to be in the future.
Hilmar spent a good amount of time bragging about spending millions of dollars on multiple VR techs across multiple continents.
To me all signs are starting to point to CCP putting all of their eggs in the VR basket. As a company that has strived to maintain to maintain uniqueness as their only advantage it makes sense. |

Here is what I think is whats happening right now. Hilmar thought, "man VR is the trend now so lets make a game about it! But where do I get the cash? I'm getting lots from Eve but I still need a bit more..........Dust still has a fanbase huh?" Thus he goes to RATman and says "Hey man, clean dust up,we need it alive long enough to fund Valkyrie and when that's done we can finally let Dust rest".
Now of course this is an extremely pessimistic view but if they were doing anything at all for dust, they would have said something. They are keeping their mouths shut because they dont want us to leave just yet.
I mean think about it,there aren't many video game companies out there that have a good VR dedicated game meaning CCP has a chance to gain Uniqueness once more. Everyone will come in and shout "Dude! you heard that CCP has awesome VR gaming?! awesome right?" This is an opportunity I am sure Hilmar is chasing after and is using everything he can to get it, that includes dust

Valkyrie is obviously a short-term cash grab.
I don't see it going anywhere (it's just an arcade game), probably because CCP doesn't see VR actually going anywhere. They're capitalizing on the lack of competition in the VR department.

I can't see Valkyrie requiring a VR headset. That kind of thing gives a lot of people headaches and causes eyestrain after prolonged exposure.
For medical reasons it will probably be a neat optional attachment, like the PS move.

Most games are a "short term cash grab". That CCP are trying to capitalise in a market which has little competition is a very intelligent (and obvious) business decision, especially if their product is very good.
This is the mindset they should have employed a couple of years ago to have Legion ready for the PS4 launch. Little to no competition for quite some time and if they had done it right, would have a pretty good player base on PS4 by now.
Oh well, spilt milk and all that.

I see it as the future.
CCP has learned a lot from both Dust and Valk in terms of the Unreal Engine and Morpheus. My opinion is that they will slowly do a knowledge transfer from the VR team to the DUST team and we will see DUST514 on the PS4 as a VR game.
Unreal 4 pricing is 5% of total revenue from game sales so "no risk no foul" on licensing, Unreal 4 is PS4 optimized, and is Morpheus friendly.
Morpheus is a huge investment for SONY and they are giving support to any DEV that is working towards a VR game/goal.
AMD is doing the optimization work for SONY on Morpheus and that says a lot.
Games like Gran Turismo 7 will probably ship Morpheus ready as well.
The cool thing about DUST is that we wear full face helmets and use augmented VR in our sci-fi shooter. CCP could use the HUD's as a method to fight motion sickness. Some VR demo's the dev's will add a nose in the immediate foreground to get this effect and to help your brain adapt. DUSTs helmet and HUDs would offer a like benefit and effect.
