Throughout the entire presentation there was a single clip in the montage at the very end that had a snippet of Planetside 2 gameplay. It was someone flying a Reaver.
With the exception of No Man's Sky and what we'll probably see of Elite: Dangerous, there was a lack of any massive-scale games for the most part. Even games that will supposedly have large-scale multiplayer only had their small-scale gameplay shown, like Star Wars Battlefront.
There's still room on the PS4 for what Dust 514 was meant to be. I hope all of you at Shanghai see clear to fill that gap.

The only problem right now is that even if Dust 514 would be ported over to the PS4 right now it wouldn't stand up to public scrutiny. It still has balancing and optimization problems to deal with before it can move on to the PS4... assuming it's not going to the PC.
But overall, I still agree with you.

I give you +1, but only that 6666 is somehow DOOM for Dust ;) Anyway DOOM presentation at E3 shows how much Dust need to catch up other titles.
Not much time left...

But overall, I still agree with you. Well I wasn't trying to imply anything immediate. E3 tends to be everyone's favorite reveal time, and with no really large scale sandbox titles being shown, it looks like that spot will stay open for a good while yet.

I prefer them to wait and launch it with good graphics and gameplay. I do get your point. We can only hope they do not abandon Dust 514 this fall.

Personally I wouldn't want them releasing on a new platform until they can support at LEAST 256 players in a match. New Eden is about a lot of things, but one of the biggest is scale. 32 or 48-player matchmade battles don't fit.

Puppets. Actually you know what? Everyone was missing puppets except Nintendo. Like what the hell, man!
Seriously though, Nintendo wins E3 for me for a few reasons.
First they get points for being the ballsiest mofos on the planet with that presentation. Clearly they didn't give a ****. Second they remembered that games can actually be fun. Every publisher and developer, not counting indies, seems to be forgetting that you can have a nice easy game that's just fun to play. Finally they presented only things coming out this year, none of that 2016 crap.
This is coming from a guy who hasn't purchased a Nintendo game since the release of Brawl and hates their Youtube antics.

On a more Sony related note I was really hoping they would destroy the very foundations of the earth by announcing MAG 2.
After Shenmue's success on Kickstarter, wouldn't be surprised if Sony aim to revive a few classics through crowdfunding. It's risk free to Sony, and gives them a good idea of how many people are actually interested in the product.
It bodes well for a MAG Remake or a completely new MAG game. |
