With all the fuss over the CPM 2 elections, I think there are fundamental issues that the playerbase isn't addressing and is allowing for the "bamboozling" of an otherwise unaware community. (Yes even forumeers.) H3re are a few things I would like to ask the current, former and future CPM in the interest of enlightenment for the rest of us.
1. What does CPM duty entail? 2. What does the CPM actually have the power to affect? 3. With the Ps3 platform eroding, and no prior commitment to another solid base, how can we best implement measures that will euthanize the former, and incentivize the latter? 4. Realistically speaking, what did you (do you {will you}) expect to make happen?
I don't know the date of the elect2, and I realize new Eden, much like New York politics are subject to change, influence, bias, popularity and the like. Any answers would be appreciated.

I'm going to go ahead and point out (before some tinfoil hatters invade and claim that the CPM have SUPREME POWER) that the CPM is an advisory body and has no power to compel CCP to do anything.
If someone is running on a platform of 'If you elect me I will add X to the game' they have no idea what it entails.
I'll give you some brief answers from what I understand. Bear in mind that although I've been in fairly close contact with nearly all members of both CPMs I have never been on it myself.
1. It entails advising CCP on player views and suggesting what player reactions to certain changes would be. It's a group of trusted players who CCP can talk to about potentially incendiary topics without fear of a public backlash and to get reasonable feedback on ideas. It does not involve demanding that a certain feature should be added to the game, controlling the development process, or buffing/nerfing things that CPM members like/dislike.
2. They don't strictly have power over things - but their opinion is likely to hold significant weight when advising CCP on certain changes. They're the players CCP go to in order to talk about changes before taking them to the wider community for discussion.
3. I don't believe the CPM can do anything about this. All CPM members from both 0 and 1 (although 0 is a depleted group that's mostly moved away from the game) firmly believe that we should move platforms, but I don't think they can do anything about it themselves.
I'll avoid #4 seeing as I'm not running atm.
