My idea for a FW component of the warbarge would be a item that once unlocked would allow trade for warbarge components for loyalty points and it could be 2 Warbarge components for 1 loyalty point or something like that, like the experimental weapons except available anytime just based on components. This could also be locked into a race chosen at upgrade or only the race of the mercenary in question. What do you guys think? |

Thanks for bringing this up. I'll be cross referencing this in my thread covering the same topic on FW.

1. A new unlock on your mini ship that is for LP/standing
2. The subsystems government affiliation is either (A) Strictly based on your avatars race, (B) Chosen by the player when unlocked or, (C) A avant garde mercenary approach where it has no affiliation and you can choose when feeding the system components what group you are supporting based on your whim.
This part of the idea I like because it looks simple to implement and it takes advantage of the current system in place (the personal warbarge in this case) which is nothing more than a User Interface that can be tweaked with relative ease. But I want to point out that we are technically mercenaries to the core regardless of how loyal we proclaim to be. That said, the new subsystem you recommend should allow the player to choose which faction they want to join. If later on the player decides to want to switch over the subsystem from one faction to the other, there would have to be a cooldown period before the player is allowed to switch over. Lore wise, this could be interpreted as a player that puts in a resignation letter to the faction they are already fighting for and have to way about a 24-48 hours before the resignation letter is processed and the player can choose the next faction for the subsystem to apply for. They can still fight for other factions like normal but the subsystem will not apply to them until the resignation letter has been processed and the players tells the subsystem which side to apply the LP bonus towards next. Some WBCs, between 500 and 1000 units depending on the subsystem's current level, should be a cost as well since the system has to be reconfigured to link up to the next faction and that takes resources.
The idea is to mitigate players from farming the subsystem too much. I say "mitigate" instead of "prevent" because I understand that preventing farmers is near impossible given our tenacity to find loopholes.
Quote: 3. To gain LP points from this system you could give it components on a level like (2WBC = 1LP) or something similar in that matter to get LP points a bit easier and alleviate some burden of slow match making. This portion will not upgrade standing though.
4. A daily limit that is upgradable, e.g. level 1 = 250 components for 125 LP level 2 = 500 components for 250 LP level 3 = 750 components for 375 LP and so on.
This seems about alright. Just to be sure I understand you correctly, does this mean I would have to spend 250 WBCs to upgrade the subsystem to level 1 so I can collect 125 LPs at the end of the day? Or are those 125 WBCs something I get per match? If it's per day, I can see some problems with this. Players who never play FW can simply upgrade this to the max and farm the LP to buy LP items in bulk and thus devaluing the LP items over time. It would seem to make sense to make it a per-match kind of bonus instead so that players have to actually put effort into it. We are already getting free ISK and SP anyways with one of the other WB subsystems. I don't think we need more handouts.
Quote: 5. Exchanging experimental weapons for a daily limit but with standing points with the governments instead e.g. level 1 = 1 experimental weapon for 35 standing with Amarr & a loss of 5 with Minmatar level 2 = 2 experimental weapons for 70 standing with Amarr & a loss of 10 with Minmatar e.c.t
With this added in it would allow a slow but useful progression with factions & help mitigate the hardships of Faction Warfare players, who either can't get into a battles because of time/match making slowness or has a unpopular faction thus mostly losses. I think It would also add another layer of complexity by using components and experimental weapons for something else. It is just another sink for warbarge components but one I think a few players in this community would at least enjoy. These are my thoughts but what do you guys think? Leave a like or post of what you believe.
I think I have a problem with #5. This is just asking for farming. Since experimental weapons are a tradable commodity between players, anyone with hundreds of millions of ISK can just buy these weapons in bulk and turn them in for standings increase. Although I'm not sure if I am in any position to say that since Eve Online does allow players to trade in pirate dog tags for a security standings increase with Concord (woop woop that's sound of the space police). Perhaps if the standings gains were brought down a few notches like 10 standings gained for one side and 2 lost on the other?
I say this because winning a match grants you 75 standings for the faction you fought for. Losing nets you nothing. If the standings gained were 35, then all I have to do is turn in 2 experimental weapons of that faction and I got myself 75 standings without winning a match. My recommendation would force the player to turn in at least 7 of the same weapon instead.
I'm still kind of worried about #5 though since this would effectively marginalize winning for a faction.

I agree we are mercenaries, from a lore to game play perspective. I just was listing all the options so everyone could see the ways it could be implemented. I like the idea of the cool down, resignation, & cost of WBC, from a particular government cause if anything it shows more how we are on a contractual basis with anyone of them and not truly with or against anyone.

On this I'm sorry i wasn't exactly clear. I meant the system would upgrade along the same cost and path as the other subsystems for example to reach (lvl 3 system 10090 WBC) would still be the path of upgrade. The difference was every day you would exchange WBC daily at the lvl of the system your at to retrieve your LP points from it but as much as I liked that idea at first I see what your saying about we don't need anymore handouts plus the devaluing of LP is not what I'd want either, so later I'll change my OP to fit a new paradigm.

I'm with you on #5 I was just trying to think of a way to help standings a bit but kinda ran out of ideas and just kinda winged this one but yeah I can see bringing down the standings so farming and lazy building wouldn't happen.
Overall thanks for the response and your input I'm gonna change the OP a little bit and then see from there how it looks. |
