+1, remove that ****. Also that other small, imbalanced, laggy mess of a city that was released a couple of patches ago. You know - the one EVERYONE hates? You know, the one where the spawns are a total mess and EVERYONE lags and complains about the **** spawns and how much they hate this map? No idea what it's called, you must know the one I mean...
I would like a Gallente SMG.

Ph, and if I have not yet signed this:

The socket needs to go until it's geometry is simplified. There's just too many round meshes and even fiery effect furnace on top - which no one sees!

I have an SSD and it won't fix it.
The biggest benefit is the higher res textures loading faster. Which should be already set to lowest possible by keen players....

It is crap like that which makes me think that it is either the connection or, most likely, the hardware that is the main problem.
Your post makes me think that you don't have any idea what this is about.
The most likely culprit is some sort of memory leak buried in the map, but without access to the source or the manpower to pick it apart, none of us can say more. Something to do with the large socket itself, because if you never go near it the whole match, you don't get affected as often, as much. CCP should have been able to find it if they had the manpower, inclination, or ability.
That it is a longstanding issue, known about since the maps release and it still hasn't been remedied would strongly suggest that it isn't going to get fixed anytime soon. Because of its exceptionally poor performance, it should be removed until it can be retooled.
We need maps that work, not more maps, as much I hate to admit it. When a map has people performing an exodus at the start, it is having larger effects on the gameplay than just the people who get affected by the memory leak worst in any given match.
For the sake of NPE, MM, and even just general quality of gameplay it should be pulled.
I say this even though I don't suffer the worst effects because I just stay in my tank and don't go anywhere near the large socket ever on this map. Never call in more than a std tank either, because you never know when you might catch a bad case of the slideshow.

We? Perhaps you mean " I" when relaying your own wishes. Some of us do not lag on that map and actually enjoy it. Why is this so hard for you lagers to believe? I do not doubt that some of you lag, but if it was 100% caused by CCP, wouldn't everyone lag every time on that map? The main variables are your internet connection and the condition of the PS3 in use, so perhaps start looking at those first.
As said correctly above by Ms Z, network latency or lag is not the issue.
It is specifically bad coding and design of the map. Argument that lag should be there every time does not invalidate the bad coding (although it makes the heavy geometry argument less likely)
I have found thru my tests that often initially there is no problem, but respawning into the Gallente Research incrementally increases the framerate lag. Sometimes in an outdoor fight, if you drive a LAV thru even once your client chokes even if you stay outside the rest ot the time.
Those happen to different people at different times because they are action triggered, therefore, some people might have smooth.. erm, normal performance and some soul crushing lag.
So, there is some memory leak or something codewise happening which causes the PS3 unreal engine to garble up.

We should make a petition to have them fix lag before adding any more content ...

Cheers man, yeah i've had mine set to low for a long time, i sometimes set it to high but don't notice any difference. I kind of wish we had map selection for all modes.

Signed, I'd remove from fw & skirmish until fixed, The domination socket is too much fun though, When it doesn't lag that is... Ad the domination version to Other Contracts & we can test the **** out of it.

Just something I've observed...
I believe the Gallente Lag Facility Socket itself is only half the problem. I've noticed the lag is particularly bad with this socket in Impact Ridge. When this city socket is in Bridge Map (Spine Crescent), for example, I seem to have regular amounts of Dust lag in the facility.
I've also noticed my lag tends to be worse in Impact Ridge, regardless of what the city socket is, although the Research facility is the worst.
Has anyone else observed this?
