My opinion or what you said, I try to provide what my team needs most, reps, revives, links, ammo, suppression, flanking..etc. Some ppl do just farm for wp, hell I even do it from time to time. I want 3 things from my games played, fun, progress, and to do the best I can. Some games however I'm admittedly testing fits, or running BPO farms, or running giggle fits, or actively harassing a tank, all over the map, all game. A logi, in my opinion, is a situationally aware individual who provides support in whatever way he/she can.
However, doing so at your own cost is just silly, it is after all...a game.
I run Gal/Min on my main, and Amarr logi on an alt, who used to be Calogi, but shield suits arent my thing. I think of each logi suit as being even across the board in what they can provide at base, with a spike in one area of excellence.
Amarr being the mobile command logistics, setting uplinks and defending them to provide troop strength and movement in tough fights. Caldari being the supply line, keeping ammo topped off and helping sustain with basic triage if need be. Gallente being the recon or intel logistics, keeping an eye on enemy movement. Minmatar being the quintessential medic, keeping troops healthy and in the fight as long as possible.
I do also support logi being aggressive and laying down fire when it's time, nothing more annoying to see one die with his tool out. Suppression is a vital key to getting an injured blue to safety or a heavy time to reload, watching the group 6 for scouts or any flanks.
Heres what I don't like about logis right now. I dislike the lack of variety of equipment, ideally each race should have 2 tools to support the team. Adding a support drone, a shield pod, a scrambler portal, or other things that compliment each logis play style right now, albeit unrealistic to want, would be great. I also dislike the lack of communications between non squad troops, icons like the nanite needle would benefit for needing ammo, the rep tool glow needs to be back so friendlies can guage how much damage they can take before pulling back, etc. And lastly, I dislike the inability to keep up with my guys lol although that is being addressed.
I was toying around with the idea of a radial buff to squad/fireteam/platoon members based on suit type. It may be better for the commander suit or whatever it was called that we never got along with the pilot, but giving teammates incentive to at least stay near friendly logi instead of us sprinting back and forth from needy soldier to needy solider. It could function at a degradation over distance, like the effecive range and absolute range of weapons.
Overall I think it is a fun class, and has definitely had its share of cycling changes in the last 3 years. I'm going to logi til they close the casket I'm sure. ^ Couldn't agree more
Dying with your tool out - the logi-flasher!
I've played the game exactly the same way since 2012. Started off as a logi due to shite gun-game, and also enjoy occasionally dabbling with heavy, scout, AV, assault, giggle-fits etc, but always gravitate back to the bumble-bee (remember when we glowed on the battlefield?).
As people seem obsessed with k/d I'll get it out of the way, that even playing primarily as a logi, I have a k/d of around 1.9 (dropped since rouge wedding when I started messing about), so I can defend myself. But to me, it's all about having fun, and when in a squad, there's nothing more satisfying to me than supporting my squad-mates (or team when solo). Yes, I try & stay alive & kill when I can, but if I can spend the match repping, uplinking, reviving, resupplying and go 0/0, then I've still enjoyed myself.
Logi - basically the most enjoyment I've ever had and am likely to have in any FPS
