I started up a fresh character on a fresh PSN account because I wanted to see what it was like in the lower tiers of matchmaking, because I and my horrible tactical skills somehow made it somewhere higher up on my main. To gauge where I'm at, or where I should be at, I've got roughly 350k lifetime WP, nearly 14 Mil lifetime SP, been active since I think December of last year, and a K/D ratio of about 0.45, with somewhere around 1,500 kills and I think 3,600 deaths total? I don't feel like embarrassing myself by checking for exact numbers. I can pretend that those numbers are justified in that I normally play a Logi or Hacker scout, but you can laugh all the same.
The only real difference between where I was previously in matchmaking and where I began anew in this completely fresh character, again, new PSN account and everything, is that none of the matches so far have started with a full team on either side. Every match has been 7-10 people on each team. And instead of being proto-stomped by whole teams, you are instead stomped by three or four individuals in proto. And not Aurum proto that you can just buy yourself into, but actual proto.
What the hell? Why is someone using a Roden's Sniper Rifle in these matches? Why am I seeing proto heavies? I saw someone with Factional Warfare BPOs. There is no way in hell these people should have been treading newbie grounds.
So, after all that, what determines where you end up in matchmaking? Does anyone know for sure? Or can someone link me to where it's already been posted?
And please no 'Drunk Scotty', I'm actually curious. |

Each player is given a hamster when they select search which is referred to as a "Mu".
2 doors are opened and which ever door your hamster runs through is the team you are on.
Sometimes a special hamster is just not able to make it through a door thus you are not placed in any battle and have been "Scottied".
Squads are only given one hamster with the squad leaders name on it which is why sometimes we end up with 16 vs 3 or 2 full proto squads against a bunch of newbs. |

It isn't.
Never has been, never will be.
Trust me, it's easier when you just accept it and move on.
My favorite tank is a Lightning. Just sayin.

Well now, you also have to take into account the groundhog that is forced to pop it's head out of his hole every time a match loads as well. If he sees his shadow you will be placed against a protostomp team.
The CPM candidate we need, not the one we want. Friends are nice, ideas are golden.

If this is really the case, that's a real shame, then. When I'm not running into protos or clearly very experienced players I'm actually having a decent fight and a really good time. Which I guess shows my actual experience level. If you could ever actually get into a match with people on your 'level' I can only imagine how amazing battles would turn out to be. As it is, running around in a newb suit, I just keep getting more and more frustrated the more often I see a Thale's or a Boundless or Ishukone anything pop up on my death screen. |

Not pay to win as you can buy similar versions in the loyalty store.

Why work for your reduced skill gear when you can just get it for cheap, right? And I only said 'that you can buy yourself into' to mean the reduced skill cost, meaning the individuals I went up against had the necessary SP for all their gear, not necessarily that it's pay to win. |

It's possible that they mix more skilled players with new one's

Defo needs more players. Shame CCP and certain idiots drove lots from the game.

I've noticed usually garbage players end up on my team when squading with my guys, sadly I have more fun soloing in pubs than I do squading.
How do you sit at a point and crowd around it for like 40 seconds with no enemies and still not hack the point!?!? Really!? There were FIVE BLUEDOTS AT THE OBJECTIVE, HOW THE HELL DO YOU NOT HACK IT!?
It's the things like that that really, really get to me and frustrate me to all get out.
I had to run from the city, hack Charlie while they were still derping around the campfire and go back into the city.
