I wasn't aware of the Fanfest events when FF 2014 came out. So from what I understand a lot of players left , because they felt betrayed that all their progress was going to get ported 'eventually' to Legion on PC. Now , it is pretty relevant that Legion or any other port wont happen and the game is at the same stage as before FF 2014 , just with a lot less players.
If what I am understanding is true , that CCP made a big announcement to port a game and finally not port , making them lose considerable amount of players , and then return to the same stage, but with less players , then the current game's state is sadly hilarious.
I don't know what to expect from Dust 514's future.
What haven't I done yet ?

First off - people didn't leave because Dust was getting ported, people were leaving because it WASN'T getting ported, we were given a new game instead with no information on wether or not our Dust stats would stick with us.
To respond, CCP instead gives us more flashy comments about combining all there games into one so one toon can be in all games blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
Some of us have friends in Sony and verified that Sony has no issues with giving CCP the information they want - so that's where the rumors are coming from regarding toon transfers, as CCP themselves have said next to nothing relevant other then, 'probably'
secondly - Legion is still just a project, not a green lit game for full production. When CCP announced Legion they failed miserably to explain this. So wether or not Legion still exist is still up in the air. But it should be considered it's own game separate from Dust 514.
And that's where all the problems from the community came. CCP pretty much lied over and over and over about Dust's future, then in a blink of an eye changed there minds, laughed, and screamed PC master race.
was quite epic, lol.
if CCP Rat wasn't around, I can almost promise you a good chunk of us would be gone too. He's the only reason we see any sort of hope in this game, because CCP themselves as an organization has given us no reason to believe in anything anymore. |

On that bit that I highlighted, were you referring to Dust? If so, it's not really in the same stage as before Fanfest 2014. After Rattati took over, it was suppose to only receive minor balancing changes and that was it. Nothing more while Legion gets everything else.
However, things have changed dramatically as you can tell. Dust was NOT suppose to get player trading but it did. Dust was also never meant to get any major client updates but it did. Client optimization was something that was part of the plan, but apparently things things progressed further and faster than anyone expected. In other words, players expected a drought but instead received rain.
But to be honest, the rain was only minimal. Problems still persist that require a major client update to address and those will likely not come around for a long time.
