Research facility is the worst.
Usually once I enter the facility I get ~5fps and down to 2 fps at it's worst.
lowest visual settings already.

What kind of PS3s do you have? Phat, slim or super slim?
How about HDD? Original or upgraded? How full is it?
How about ventilation?
The reason I ask is that I don't seem to have any framerate issues to speak of, even in the infamous Lag facility. I have a PS3 slim with a upgraded Seagate 750 GB Hybrid drive. It's standing horizontal in a open cabinet with at least 20cm space on either side.
Edit: Ohh, I have all settings maxed in game. Runs like a charm, but I might be lucky? |

Slim - original HDD, good ventilation, not overheating.
I'm going to see if a SSD I have around the house is still ok and give it a try.
Next step will be to mod the PS3 and give it a cooling upgrade to see if that helps.
But I don't think that's the root problem.
Adding interesting mood overlays to already texture loaded game is my likely suspect.

I never have low frame rates as long as I reset my system before every battle. Otherwise it becomes unplayable.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

Did you find a SSD? If so, what was your experience with it?

SSD won't resolve your fps problem. Might help slightly, and will fasten the loading of in game textures (like map sockets)

Well EVERYONE WHO HAS PLAYED DUST DOMINATION KNOW THAT 1 MAP THAT LAGS SO BADLY IVE NOTICED THAT IT ONLY HAPPENS IF YOU HAVE AN INTERNET SPEED OF BETWEEN 1mbps-3mbpsif you change your internet speed to at least 5mbps then you wont have a single lag its so fun to kill people that lag just upgrade your internet speed and you would be fine. |

SSD loaded and many matches have been played since.
Frame rate in gallente research facility is playable now, not the previous 1-5 fps. I've played it in quite a few matches so it's not just small sample size errors.
I have a slow internet connection by some standards, 500kbps, and the latency getting to the server is high; 300ms is normal for my link. This is probably contributing to the problems.
I have noticed that games where the dust and sparkles (either green or red) are present are much more likely to be low frame rate and laggy. This is of course not much of a surprise to me as the game was already struggling without putting extra visual effects into the mix.
It's a nice visual effect but honestly the immersion is spoiled when you can see dust flowing through building walls, probably better dialling the dust/fog effects back by 80-90% and seeing if the immersion is actually better.
@SHAHIN CRUZ: I'm in Australia, we have crap internet and no options to upgrade for the next few years. If I could pay someone to run a fibre to my house I would whip out my Credit Card faster than a logi rep tool. Great suggestion, I'll get right on it.....I'll be out on the street with a reel of fibre and the telcos suing my ass :)
TLDR: SSD didn't solve all my problems but it made things a lot better.
