Hello there fellow merc and you damm SC (shotgun cloaker) thats right i saw you running around in your dam fancy cloaking device and your back raping shotgun.....
It's been a while since my last thread on 'bolt pistol being the messiah weapon for SC encounter" (i think that was the thread topic name....oh well) today i like to share some more news on how to make the SC lives more miserable. Ever since the RE throw distant has been nerf, i stumble on a way to utilize the RE more effectively and when i say stumble i meant getting my face explode clean off. i found this method when i was playing as a sniper and during the my relocation after a shot, i saw an enemy uplink. Being the team player i was, i go ahead and melee it. To my suprise i was dead after destroying it and upon the death screen ( i think) i was kill by a RE.......at that point some could say losing a FORK sniper by that would get anyone to rage quit but i was actually surprisingly impress on how clever my enemy.
So, after the match ended i went and join another. In this one we were getting red line and boy it was not a pretty sight. To make matter worse i was getting rap3 by an SC. Frustrated i was, i try out that RE trap with my light dropsuit here's the spec
STD LIGHT DROPSUIT
MILITIA MYBROFIL x2
BASIC REACTIVE ARMOR
MILITIA NOVA KNIFE
BOLT PISTOL
UPLINK
RE
(i didn't really invest much SP to become a scout)
the funny thing is when i deploy this trick, i instantly get a kill and the one i kill was the same SC that have been rapping me. Moral of the story....SC are overconfident back rapper.
now to do this RE trap trick, Place the chosen equipment ( preferably an uplink) and carefully place your RE on top of your uplink to make sure it's hardly noticeable to your enemy and thats it. your all set to go. To maximize the efficiency of this trick, make the uplink noticeable by placing it some place like an open room to lure your enemy to destroy it.
Hope this thread helps you with your SC problem.
P.S. this trick is still being tested out so don't try to use this as your play style and might backfire. Also might not work on experience and modest player.

Hi,
This is why I use the flaylock, I don't have to be as accurate with the shot and also don't need to worry about traps.

Its a good trick but not a direct counter to a cloaker. My best counter is backupbackupbackupbackup with a quick TTK weapon/MD which is the anti-scout. Or you're trap can be counter by an explosive weapon as DDx77 said or a simple flux.
The other counter is to constantly watch your back. If you THINK you're being followed/bout to get attacked from behind you probably are, which is why 360cloak-checking is good. Same with Spy-checking in TF2. I've recently started doing this and its been especially helpful on min scout cause of my poor EWAR, has saved me so many times.
Being aware is the best counter.
A good trick for RE traps, there are tricks that reds suspect all the time like doorways, hallways, etc so you have to be a lot more creative with placement, just look around closely you'll find lots of new places to set up traps.

This is actually quite an old tactic. Iv been trapping up links since chrome hence why I shoot enimy up links and don't mele them .
Proud Caldari purist .
I fought and bled for the State on Caldari prime.

I have explosives V, but my scout fits can't handle it.
I want a proto MD, proto nades, and proto REs, but I can only have 2 out of the 3 at a time.

That trick has been around since beta. Most experienced players won't be killed by it.

old trick like others say, I never melee uplinks. PC is probably the only place where people do not waste time with this tactic. |
