I could refer you to a YouTube video of the lecture I covered regarding Power Cores that could better explain it, but unfortunately that lecture got hijacked by some guy who didn't wait for me to explain anything and kept interrupting me. I might hold the same lecture again and make it more organized and more clear but that will be a long while as I have other lectures to deal with first such as the subject on nova knives, getting involved in faction warfare, dealing with player trading, etc.

The concept of the Power Core idea is suppose to be something like this...
APEX 'Tiger' Scout BPO Converted into the following Bundle: 1x Prototype Basic Suit BPO 1x Standard 'Tiger' Scout Power Core BPO - Includes prefitted standard modules 1x 'Tiger' Scout MN SKIN BPO
That is the gist of what I'm getting under Aero Yassavi's and Avallo Kantor's idea. Their idea addresses BPOs like the APEX suits. When you look at CCP Z's original idea for Project Legion, it never addresses the problem with BPOs. That and Z's idea forces you to go down a path you don't want in order to use a weapon you like while Aero's and Avallo's idea doesn't do that to you.

Hey, you get the BPO suit, but suits by themselves won't cost that much on the market anyway. The power cores will cost more money.
That's the thing. It's likely that the basic suits will not cost anything at all. They might be issued freely by the empires and other factions (the lore can be adjusted to reflect this change) while moving all of the costs from the basic suit to the power cores.
In the case of the BPO suits we have today, read my last post on what I think would happen.

That and Z's idea forces you to go down a path you don't want in order to use a weapon you like while Aero's and Avallo's idea doesn't do that to you. My hope is that the power core and skin wont ba prefitted, i.e., non-removable from the BPOs. If so, then we'd effectively have the same thing, only the game would see it as different (suit, core and skin as separate resources.) So, I hope I can't get my Dragonfly scout skin separate to put that look on a proto scout or should I say a generic, non-BPO suit. Sure, I guess I could pop in a proto core on the Dragonfly suit, but it's the principle man!
The idea I'm looking at is pretty simple. Regardless if you paid AUR for looks or the ISK-savings advantage, the concept I'm thinking satisfies both of those reasons for purchasing the BPOs.

2 things wrong with this sir 1. There will no longer be any prototype suits Any suits you have that are prototype will be converted into their corresponding suit BPO, powercore, and (possibly) a skin example. My prototype Minmatar assault will be converted into a BPO Minmatar assault suit equipped with a prototype powercore and a (possible) proto black skin My APEX suits will be converted into similar components 2. "Scout Basic Suit" It would be a Minmatar scout BPO not a basic BPO but this was just a minor grammatical error Now to put fears to rest current BPOs (APEX excluded) will become SKINs in most cases As stated ALL of your suits will be converted into their corresponding suit BPO, powercore, and skinin effect you'll only have to pay for powercores (and all the stuff ON the suit like equipment and stuff) since all suits will be BPOs(and maybe proto/advanced SKINs, I'm not 100% sure on the SKIN aspect)
I'm not one to argue about semantics here. I only posted what I said because I just wanted to make it clear what the item in question would be like in terms of slot layouts and stuff like that. Honestly, we don't even know what the final names are going to be if CCP Rattati goes ahead with this plan.

He does sound like he is going through with this, but until he says directly that he will do it, I'm going to continue to assume that the plan is only a concept he is looking into.
