There's a few of us yet dedicated to it and won't change but some threads have popped up comparing us to assault suits and you really can't.
A commando is slow and a big target and has between 2 and 4 slots for fitting. Your competition is likely better fitted because they have more slots, faster unless its another heavy and since the re-spec we're seeing more proto fits and APEX suits.
I've experimented with fits. Using the Commando proto isn't justifiable against its cost because the one extra mod doesn't increase your power or survivability that much and worse, the fitting doesn't allow a full proto fit even then. So I mostly field basic and advance suits.
You can't mount a significant tank with four slots because all you're adding is a small buffer to your slow target so what you fit is likely a damage mod (reinforce natural bonus) and an armour rep (you're too slow to keep up with the rest of the squad so you look to your own independent survival.) Leaving two slots for what? Speed and bunny mod giving you still less mobility than your assault. E-war is redundant so its usually a shield recharger or a green bottle.
Commandos die a lot. Taking on an assault on your own is often a bad idea because of the strafe's and bunnies and if you happen to be winning the engagement you can expect them to run away and recharge because they can do that. Two shots from a shotgun will take you out and you melt pretty quick to everything else too. There's some luck involved and the rock, paper scissors aspect that the modular fitting provides, a commando can still do a 'Rambo' and take out three guys and a tank all on his own but the odds are against. There's a reason they used to say playing commando was playing the game in hard mode.
Success wise I've had good results in two places; the meat grinder defending or attacking with relentless close quarters in a mob or out on the flanks where we can use the damage bonus. It suits my play style which is to charge in and shoot lots of bullets. The best place for a commando is as part of an attacking line, backing up the squad and using the damage bonus but without drawing fire that it can't take and there commando is king, its what he does best and he can do some serious damage even if all he does is rack up kill assists and scare the tanks away.
So yes, lets have a buff, lets keep all the suits but give us a buff; more slots or manoeuvrability to increase our survivability because the enemy has become more dangerous and we haven't improved yet to match them.

I've observed some more things with commandos: they have 2 light weapons, but that generally means emptying both, punching your way out, then hiding in a corner to reload both. They have the worst health regen in the game- this and the point above means they could be meant to fight in waves, before falling back to reload and regen.
The lack of grenades and their damage bonus could also mean they're intended to fight at long range. This would fit with their slow health regen, but it still doesn't work well with gallente commandos.
Any buff they get should be to give them a more pronounced role. The speed buff is already incoming, so you can save your breath for that.

I disagree with you gal commando statement . I run proto g mando and do quiet well at close range . Yes I cannot strafe or out run most people but my plc makes up for that (assault rifle +plc is fun) having a close range weapon and a close to mid range weapon is very useful

I still havent had to pay for a proto commando. I don't die very often, at any range. Duvolle tac and Kla 90, 1 complex dmg, 2 reactives and a rep with a rep hive. Get munny.

"Commando is a soldier or operative of an elite light infantry or special operations force."
Light.
Light.
LIGHT!!!
CCP just wanted to add another heavy suit without thinking what a Commando in real terms actually does. A commando in most games is like the "assault" but more versatile. That is not the case in DUST.
CCP should've made it the combo of HeavyAss, speed and tank, with the ability of two light weapons. But I guess that won't be the case. Unless our savior Rattata the Top Percentage does something about it. But he should be more busy with fixing bugs and the Master Codex than worrying about the squabble of the lowly.

Been rocking the commando as primary for nearly 2 years now (has it already been that long since uprising 1.2?!?). I find all of this talk extremely amusing.
Also I would be in favor of a Light Commando class, same bonuses just on a light frame. But as an option, not a replacement. Highly doubt CCP is interested in adding more specializations though.

I don't see why. I have Commando 4 and RR 5 for scramblers it it reloads in what I'm assuming is under a second

As for now i can only see two uses for commando.
1. Minmando with MD. It'll always be good. 2. AV.
Assaults are better in everything thing else. But that's for now. After changes logis, scouts and commando will be rocking, sadly.
