there is nothing special about the commando role bonus, all role bonuses should be able to applied to any suit the same way as a skin , so give your scout the sentinel role bonus
So 4 suit design there should be 5 suit types 4 races
a skin slot a power core slot a role bonus slot , if this is empty you have a basic suit but but if you are skilled in commando you can add the commando role bonus for a drop in CPU and PG (basics are supposed to have a bit more and particularly nice combinations could have more of a hit to CPU and PG) if you are skilled in scouts you can add the scout role bonus |

The problem I see here is how to maintain balance and prevent one setup from become the next flavor of the month especially when allowing a core to transfer the role bonus of one class to another class. Every role has been balanced according to their respective class and race. Can you imagine a Amarr Sentinel getting the profile dampening bonus of a Gallente Scout? Or imagine one suit getting marginalized by other suits because of the bonus transfer like the Logistics suits. I don't think I would be happy with this. I say lock the bonuses to the suits.

"I'm going to use commando role bonus on assault suits! That way with only two or three damage mods I can have ~25-40% more damage, while still being on the suit that has the best base stats in the game!".
Gal/amarr assault suits, using the commando role bonus would be putting out ~38% more damage with [bonused weapon of choice] because the only 'good' thing to fit in high slots is damage mods, I am not fond of the idea of seeing assault / scrambler rifles with paper DPS of ~700-800ish, while still being on suits that have zero survivability issues.
No, this idea is beyond stupid for many reasons, most of all balance.

So you are saying a 10% damage bonus to a scrambler is much better than a 25% heat reduction? And you can't do simple things like capping the damage mods so maybe get an extender and a regulator ? or like the OP said charge more PG and CPU for certain combinations. |

Actually I am imagining a Gal sentinel getting the profile dampening bonus of the gall scout , So Scan profile is 41 but it loses the 25% damage bonus to explosive damage , the 15% bonus for rails, the 10% bonus to projectile I don't see this breaking the game |

Assuming that balance would be left exactly where its at and not adjusted at all, which is... illogical.
