(so sorry in advance for my bad english im japanese)
so, when i play dust, i prefer mostly to use a gladius, or gunnlogi (depends on situation)
i have arround 20M SP with all for using tank (gunnlogi, and gladius)
and i found it EXTREMLY frustrating, to come on a field, with a tank that cost more than 1M ISK, and being killed by the first guys that come with a rocket launcher !!
i remember during the closed beta (yes was not yesterday ...) at that time the tank had a REAL impact, and could "protect" themsleve, today to take down a tank you dont need another tank ...
just bring a newbie with the default outfit, and "voila" you have someone able to kill the most "suposed" powerfull war-machine
i remember at some point we had the choice of what type of ammo (for missile) anti tank or with huge splash dmg, why it has been taken out ?
why every vehicle in this game are so uneffective ? and useless ?

Gunlogi's are abit underpowered . However I don't have your problem as I am the guy with the plasma cannon

i main missile turret,
in my opinion tank are too squishy, because well
if you want to keep your tank alive, without risk, you have to stay far behind, but you end up doing almost close to nothing
in the opposite if you want to "enjoy" trying to be a little bit closer, and your dead (rocket launcher, forge canon, anti-vehicle grenade, the bomb thingy -forgot the name-)
when you think about it, its a lot,
but the best in my opinion its the knife !! a guys out runned my tank and KILLED me just by cutting ...
today tank are close to useless in every fight,
i miss the day when you could be a wall and protect your teammate, behind you

My advise: look at your fitting. There is a lot good tanker that you can't kill.
Just some tactics, do not stay long in one place, 2+ hardeners and you ready to go.

In closed beta, it's true that HAVs were far better, but the frames alone back then cost hundreds of thousands of ISK, over a million if it was a black ops HAV, and the modules and turrets were expensive as well.

Vehicle versus infantry. War has waged as long as I've been here, which were 8 months after beta. Tanks are powerful during one time block and then weak the next. Its the weak season now for tanks. That might change back later.

This is probably only part of the problem. When my acquaintance Doctor Aeon flys his DropShips more than half the Enemy team is running just AV. It's pretty much Av city from what i've seen.

Gunlogi was overpowered quite a long time. They nerfed it too hard and buffed maddys at the same time + buffed AV.
CCP's just bad at balancing. As for now, gunlogi can be effectively used as a glass cannon (3 to 4 dmg mods + heat sink). It destroys other vehicles in no matter of a time under some conditions.
Blaster maddy is 'go to' fit for now. Double hardeners + rep and a plate, and you can take very significant amount of damage.
Not that i'm giving you any lessons or anything, just describing how it looks like for now.

Hi, I am also tanker and I have learned the hard way to: * always look at your environment, so that you do not run into a trap. * Be careful were you drive. If you are stuck you are probably lost. * If you get damage => Move on! You are faster than infantry. do not try to stand and deliver. * Try to pick out turrets as long as they are neutral. They can easily crush you. * FEAR RAIL TURRETS!! Never go there. * Try to find loyal gunners. They can increase your survival and combat value immense! * If you survived a long time the enemy will increase the effort to crush you. At some point it is a wise decision to move into base and recall your tank. |

By the way, I used to solo chrome marauders in Beta. your statement is irrelevant.

I think there is a lot to fix with vehicles and AV.
Swarms are OP in some situations but UP in others.
Dropships need some help as do shield tanks from what I hear.
Armor tanks are issues, but according to Pokey and True it has a lot to do with passive armor reps instead of active.
There is a lot going on and the problem is bigger than just nerfing swarms and be done with it.

actually i didnt expected, other to agree with me
for my fitting, im using 2 hardener, 1 shield booster, 2 shield extender,
and all my skill point goes mostly in all vehicle related skill (for the part of my fitting)
but whatever,
in my opinion, tank mechanics is broken, i mean what purpose do they have ??
kill infantry ? no
kill other tank ? no, infantry is good enough for that
push a node ? if your a kamikaze, maybe ... with some luck...
i dont want people to think that im only complaining, i really think this game have potential |
