Before anyone asks, no, im not a "free-to-play" player. Ive bought my share of aurum items with actual money. Bu the respec or skill tree reset is something i cant understand. Why is it for aurum, why cant it be for, say 1mil isk? I would love to try out different suits and weapon, but it takes ages to get all the sp for them.

There are milita variants of all weapons and frames so you can have your hand at it.
There was a time when there weren't respecs... And a 190K SP cap... so every SP mattered. This is why we had the militia variants.

To earn more revenue? And also to keep re-specing to a minimum.
It would be cool if you could earn a respec in a strongbox.
It would also be interesting to see cheaper partial respecs. Say there's just one tree you regret specing into.

It is easy to understand why it is AUR. But if you want a respect I do think every new account should come with one to let you experiment. They should also be non-tradable.

Respecs unbalance the game as is toward FOTM items and the idea is supposed to be that you plan your combat career carefully and live wi the consequences.
Militia is supposed to be for testing purposes. Not very good when you can't have a place with nothing but militia to test it against.
Also, CCP wants to make money and respecs are a very desirable comodity.
The CPM candidate we need, not the one we want. The candidate for the rest of us.

In a changing game where you plan your skilling carefully just to get punished by nerfs then double punished by having to use aurum if you have a useless character if you have a newer character or only between 10-20 million SP and got unlucky, there should be a hefty on price isk option, i'd clock it at 50 million isk for an isk respect because players shouldn't be punished by devs because say the bolt pistol gets nerfed next week and 6 months ago somone started playing saw it used and used the next 3 months to skill it out, get a decent suit and have a few mods, his character just got killed by the BP getting nerf batted and CCP is asking 30 bucks or another 6 months, it's obvious the choice, quit dust, that is why we need an isk variant because even i feel it's a pure pay to win with eventual nerf bats or game rebalancing

Pay to win?! So if one team decides to all respec before a PC match they're guaranteed to win? You're just being dramatic.

Because the respec shouldn't be possible to begin with. There is no need at all for it, because you get unlimited skillpoints and you even get them for free while not being logged in. It's just there because so many people who don't understand how Eve works whined.

Exactly! Because if you spec into the FotM once you should always be invincible and powerful! What fun is a game where everybody spec sinto the same FotM all the time?

I have always felt when ccp changes something drastically they should offer a respect.
The rail rifle comes to mind as well as when they decided to ninja increase the SP on vehicles and unknowing players lost a ton of sp
Justified or not these actions derail the "live with the consequences" of building your character as ccp literally flips the script on you

I said a FOTM on purpose because a new player would most likely pick a FOTM and if they had brains put all their SP into it to be as powerful as possible but unknowing it'll probably be nerfed, it's not a problem of FOTM chasing but any weapon or suit, look at scouts for instance, perfect example, so many scout players disenfranchised instantly. It's a fix to a real problem where we are punished and the excuse is "use skill points wisely" but the actual answer is figure out the next FOTM before you get buffed or nerfed right now or get punished for actually RPing in an RP game

The game does not have enough players to justify this from a business perspective. They need to charge money where they otherwise don't want to to keep the game running. The respevfeature should not even be here in the first place. |

What you think the dev gods can just do some clicks and set it to free
No no no my new man they need your money 1st to go to a beach in Mexico play pool on work time photo copy there but and post it on your accounts pic and black list your name and ip should you dare not like them or give them any bad reviews or lip
my dear sweet sweet noob man no they cant set the rest for free there a .09% chances that you may get more or less sp back if everyone could respec all the time and have fun at this game and like i said before give them all of your money till your broke and they may say something about you when you died from lack of food.

While I can see your point, please remember CCP is a Business that needs to turn some profit off of a free game, the employess don't work for free and lease fees on buildings cost money. The cost of running a business of any kind requires continous in flow of money. It's not req to have a respec, so we're lucky. Yes the game is being constantly nerf/buffed it seems , drives me crazy too. These nerfs/buffs though never ever make any of the things I have ever skilled up useless . I personally would love to see CCP's original idea for Dust become a reality , but that can only happen if it moves off of the ps3 and that too cost money. So I like the fact that people must purchase aurum for respecs because it gives me hope

I'm a free to play player that puts in whatever money I can spare. I don't see the point in there being respecs for ISK unless they are really expensive (75 million+ maybe even 100 million+) should also be non-tradeable. Maybe have partial respecs for 50 million+.

At Killertojo. Just be quiet. What you are talking about is FOTM chasing which is really for scrubs and CoD fan boys. You specced into a weapon that got nerfed? Cry me a river bro (I want to go white water rafting) and git gud.
I can't wait for the day when this game is entirely balanced and the FOTM is teamwork and not solo tryhards running "OP" Gear.
"But I want this game to be like CoD and kill in 5 seconds and have a good kdr and not care about my team". Well then go play CoD you stupid sh*t and f*ck off my dust.
