(first, CCP Frame, you were a bit too quick to move and lock the feedback thread)
No, as a concept: - too quake/unreal gimmicky - maps too small - devalues dropships and lavs as transport even further - too campable - won't REALLY bring anything significant
No, according to testing experience: - too static - mechanic still too campable as expected - No one likes people appearing from thin air, the spawning mechanic is a suffer enough - Ugly, like a candy paper litter on ground
Maybe if: + skyspawning with increased gliding + as a replacement for an elevator to get onto skyscrapers towers etc + on maps where boths side's own home base is very wide (~1km): portals can port people to different parts of their own home zone in order to group up well and push out against thinly spread redline camping team + scifi idea: losing team (squads) gain "loser points". When they have enough, they can call a jet to make a flyby which creates temporary skyspawn exits. + totally unrealistic scifi idea: portals transport you to other fights O_o entirely other maps
So good job on exploring the mechanic. Now I want to give a friendly reminder: even though some thing has been worked on and effort spent, it does NOT mean the thing has to be in the final product!
Even though I say 'no' to portals as they have been tested and suggested (in middle of field) they may have other uses.
Looking at both sides of the coin.

I agree on most of these points especially the small map size.
If whole landscapes were opened up and they were used as a way for the defenders to get from one area to another quickly then fine but to small and campable which kind of nullifies them as an answer to redlining.
Anyone getting annoyed by reading of the above post should consider the following.

I am definitely in favor of this. Agreed, this is one way to alleviate the rooftop camping epidemic. Giving people unrestricted access to troublesome rooftops would make for more dynamic fights, and even though it would reduce the dropship role somewhat that needs a whole heap FO stuff - and hotdrops are still a thing.

I like the idea of the portals, I even participated in a few of the portal matches. I do feel like the locations where you are teleported are perhaps too usual? Like... if I was in charge of a battle force and placement of the locations to open the portals, I would not place them where they were.
I'd place one high in the air somewhere to let the troops drop down, maybe one close to the enemy red line, 200-300m away from their home point, and the third maybe ontop of a building somewhere. |

I am definitely in favor of this. MAke the points only work for one team, with a hack panel to flip it, and this would be an excellent addition.
