Having to earn a loyalty rank in order to trade makes no sense to me. If I was a market trader I'd have to buy a licence to pitch my stall. Going to my local authority and doing good deeds wouldn't earn me the right to trade. So with this in mind wouldn't it make more sense to buy a licence to unlock the trade ability? Maybe it could be an aurum only skill book and each level reduces the amount of tax paid in trade fees by 5%.
Have I thought about this extensively? No not even for ten minutes, but the current system is flawed.
Thoughts?

It could be isk but it would have to be a substantial amount (10m?), just trying think of a way to move it away from loyalty rank.

Good point, but right now both alts on the account get automatic access to the loyalty points held by the main so I don't see this as a problem.
By the way this isn't an anti scammer idea. As much as I dislike the idea of scams, it is a legitimate play style and I believe it does have a place as it always has in new eden. I just don't see the connection to loyalty rank.

So really what you're saying is remove the loyalty rank requirement. A replacement paywall ($ or ISK) isn't needed, nor a solution.
When proper testing is complete, we may see the LR restriction removed, who knows?

Overhaul the friends recruiting system and allow friends that were recruited to be automatically promoted to Loyalty Rank 2.
