Its good but the drawbacks are immense. It can only take on a couple people before overheating , only effective on the amarr assault, +20/-20 damage profile(we all know the armor meta is going strong). Its benefits, it can empty half a magazine in a couple seconds, therefore giving it the highest dps of all rifles next to the combat rile. Nerf that and the Tac Ar will be the choice weapon for Amarr assaults, because higher damage,no overheat, at the cost of lower rof. What's the point of a high rof anyway if your damage output is too low to finish off a couple enemies? Thats all.
Edit: If the the Nerf is really set, why not lower the heat build up. I'm totally against this because its taking away what's special about the Scr(the high skill threshold), but at least itd be usable just without the high dps. Kind of lame though.

Scrambler rifle hate is pretty easy to understand : - Highest DPS with an effective range exceeding 75m - Super accurate - Super easy to handle (no spread, low kick etc) - Charge shot
Having the gun not able to kill more than 2 guys before overheatig is NOT a drawback because any other rifle wouldn't do it either as the guy would not have the time to apply the damage before dying (and some rifles need reload after dealing roughly the same damage as the ScR before overheating).
You don't balance a weapon considering the HP meta. If the weapon is fine against armour with that extreme profile, it's completely OP vs shield
CR has a real DPS of 420 if you don't use turbo, not over 700
Also there is no skill required to use that gun, the DPS allows you to miss many shots and still kill faster than an accurate opponent. The so-called skill required to avoid overheat is BS, just play a few games with it without being completely dumb and you'll know when to stop. Moreover if the overheat is gonna happen right before you finish the guy, switch to sidearm and finish the work, the damage was so quick to apply in the first phase that the switching time doesn't allow your opponent to come back before it's too late.
Many things I've said are part of the uniqueness of the laser weapons (accuracy, charge shot etc) and so should not be nerfed. However the advantages they give should be balanced by something alse (lower DPS)
Warhammer 40k Space Marine is a game that has many problems, but the balance between guns is remarkable in that game. The plasma gun is nearly the same thing as ScR, it has nearly no spread/kick, is longer range, as a charged shot (but it looks more like a MD shot ), it overheats and it's much more effective against the shield equivalent of SM. To compensate the superior accuracy, the range, the existence of a charge shot etc, the plasma gun has a slightly lower base DPS than the bolter (AR of SM) and the balance is great. Bring down the RoF to 480 RPM should be fine

1. The only weapon that's good at taking on multiple opponents is the hmg. So that argument is not valid.
2. Imo, the biggest issue with it is the charge shot followed by a quick burst. When used like that, the dps blows all other weapons out of the water. |

I dont hate it, I use it on my amarr suited alt, logi/assault. I have noticed quite a few ppl picking it up, even more than back when it was really strong. The ascr is fun to use, but needs to be addressed in its damage vs armor (sheer rpm) and its inability to overheat at all on amarr assault. Some minor tweaks would benefit, but then again it's not the only weapon that needs it. Its just popular, hence crying, hence nerf bat.

Call me a crier but the ScR is getting out of hand..... the dps against armour is what is most likely warranting this nerf.....

Its been buffed few times already. You can observe how that ended. Still lacking compared to other guns.
But we'll see what will happen after these proposed changes. People will jump on the fotm train anyway.

What do the shield users' have? Long range unstable weaponry that doesn't compare on its best day to SCR. Mwahahahahahahaaa!

Because besides the overheat it has no draw back.
And while the six kin at least has trouble when going up vs shields(which would be a bigger drawback if it were possible to go 400+ shields on a non cal suit) the ScR melts through armour tanks to its high dmg profile, good accuracy and insane RoF which can be exploited by a modded controller(but doesn't need to) you throw in aim assist and bullet magnatisim then the skill weapon which provide a high reward with high risk becomes less...skill reliant.
All that being said, the weapon would instantly become balance if we disabled AA and bullet magnatisim and somehow disabled modded controller use.

Here is a comparison that may get the point across. Imagine if the Charged Sniper Rifle could also fire "quick shots" for 150-ish damage immediately after the charge? You can charge up, unleash a 350 damage shot ( if you miss the head) , then follow it up immediately with multiple 150 damage shots to finish the job. How much QQing would there be if this was the case? The SCR is essentially the same thing on a lower alpha damage scale but with a faster ROF. The hest build up isn't nearly what it should be.

The day I see the Scrambler rifle dominating in both close range and long range, hell i'll call for a nerf right away. It shouldn't be a close range weapon, and you know what? Its not. Ask bitter vet whats the weapon of choice for short range or long range combat. Its going to be either the combat rifle or the rail rifle.
The FOTM is a GA assault with a rail rifle. Why isnt it the GA / Min assault with scramblers? Because the drawbacks are big enough to neccesitate investing at least Amarr Assault level 3 to use it effectively.
Its Kill per sapwn ratio falls neatly in line with the other rifles. Shown by rattati here Something its detractors either don't know about or completley ignore. If kills were out of line, well then we'd have problem that i beleive ought to be adressed. But...it isnt.
Even the detractors in this same post say the same thing, If your in medium range and if you manage your heat and if your fighting shield tanked enemies and If you have the amarr assault...then its OP. Or as i like to call it, actually working properly.
But because people complained so much ratatti got to do something to placate the infantry. Which is a bit sad. But thats the dust 514 forums for ya.

Yes but what you are doing is comparing the standard variants of weaponry in an unfinished weapons system to a tactical variant (of which there is another example of a 1000 DPS weapon WITH better Armour DPS).
That being said why does no one complain about the Tac AR. +1000 DPS vs Shields and 100 DPS more than the ScR vs Armour, same rate of fire, scope, no heat build up, benefits from the Gal Assault Bonus, etc.
All the same faults as the ScR but none of the QQ.

IMO It's a weird weapon
When I use it it feels balanced - yes I can and have one shotted light frames But I have also had suits that seem like they take forever to kill - where a acr would have been a better choice ( I use a combo of either A/1 or Ak0 with x2 or 3 dmg mods)
When I'm up against it it feels nightmarishly strong especially if I'm in a Cal assault I'll get killed as if I don't even have that small amount of armor on the suit |
