IMO consistent naming (and thus easier for new players to grasp) trumps how cool the name sounds. I'm pretty sure I"m in the minority though. Best PvE idea ever!

Plasma rifle is ubiquitous to scifi. Blaster rifle is not. WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.
