Would it be okay if the music tracks for Dust 514 were released to us?
I always appreciated the different ambient themes in the game. Especially, the ambient theme that runs in the background when you're actually on foot in combat. The music in Dust has always helped enhance the immersion for gameplay.
I would like to be able to immortalize these ambient songs, for posterity's sake.
I went to the Help Desk with this request a while back. They recommended bringing it up here in the forums. |

Might as well ask for them, I guess. CCP does not currently believe in adding new legitimate music to EVE or actually iterating on the sound engine, and instead directs people to use soundcloud outside of the game. When asked why they would spend dev resources making menu soundtracks instead of in-game soundtracks, Darwin had this to say.
CCP Darwin wrote:Sure. The principle is we'd rather have our developers taking the game forward than maintaining what amounts to a WinAmp clone.
So, you can see how many pancakes they actually give in relation to sound and music design. Not very many. Very poor attitude to have.
But the upshot is, assuming he's at least consistent, there's no real reason they shouldn't be putting up the Dust OST on soundcloud as well. Granted, it will never be a dynamic soundtrack like it was back in beta. I guess that kind of order was too tall for someone who believes music should come from outside the game, and who's overall vision was limited to the scope of "winamp clone".
Usually banned for being too awesome.

I am one of those people directed to use Soundcloud, made a playlist that's 5 hours and 14 minutes long.

I see. I agree. That's a pretty insightless viewpoint for one to have of art, that helps create the theme for the universe one is trying to create. Logical to a fault.
The GM at the help desk directed me to the forums, but it seems I'll have to try and email their office directly for their tracks. I'll ask for both Current and Beta tracks, as well as permission to share them. Hopefully, they don't give enough of a damn about the tracks to let me have them.
Thanks for sharing this Jadek. |

Still no email response from the Shanghai office relating to this.
I've made another Help Desk ticket.
If that fails, I'll try to call and make a business appointment to meet a rep. |
